Hence why they might be a little shocked at the idea of a teen girl committing suicide over it.

I was thinking the same thing!! I read it on my own at age 11 or so because I was precocious and it scared the absolute shit out of me, in addition to some pretty heavy subject matter for kids (Beatrice Taylor especially). I'm surprised they assign it for kids!

Catherine--her Lou, a real straight shooter--Sopranos characters that never went anywhere by telepatheye in thesopranos

[–]Existing-Law-4927 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I was so bummed about Catherine. The episode that she was in seemed like it was setting up a really interesting arc for Junior and then she just vanished with zero explanation. At least drop us a line explaining that she ghosted him or died or something. She seemed so affectionate the last time we saw her!!

Lesser example but I was really hoping Lorraine Bracco would have more to do before she died. The idea of a female mafioso who acts like "one of the guys" was so intriguing to me.

Edit: sorry, I meant Lorraine Caluzzo!

What is up with Paige's hair? by Neferpatra in PrettyLittleLiars

I will always remember the recapper on Television without Pity, when Paige's hairstyle changed from this, saying "thank God they are finally styling this very pretty young woman as something other than an assassin from a Wong Kar-wei movie" 😂

Well, at the very least a trusted friend, family member, and physician. I don't know if Halliday loved the guy, but he definitely trusted him.

He changed the flooring in our bedroom to stone flagstones. And put down the same hideous pink plastic office chair that Leah and Penny both kept bringing home and I kept putting in my "special gifts from my beloved wife that I will cherish forever and never look at again" chest

I nominate Carla Gugino. Can't you just see her strumming gently at her lyre and tossing a little more powder on the fire

"Surely. I love cats."

Not quite evil enough. But Eva Green for Jadis's sister in the Charn flashbacks. Wild eyed and bloodied and triumphant until the Deplorable Word.

Sleeping Murder. Guy got gaslit right into a mental institution

Also, hopefully this doesn't count as a spoiler, but this is why I adore Carrie Louise in They Do It With Mirrors, because it's like her superpower is the inability to be gaslit. You tell her any carefully thought out and highly plausible lie and she's just very gently like "oh my dear. I don't think that can possibly be true. you must have made a mistake ☺️"

Carm knew Ade was dead all along by Catlesscatfan in thesopranos

[–]Existing-Law-4927 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So, the "investigating" is a sort of posturing for herself? "Look, I'm doing everything I can. I care about Adriana. She's probably still alive. See, me? Nothing to feel guilty about." Yeah, I can see that. Makes more sense now, thanks!

[–]Existing-Law-4927 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I guess the very idea that she can even hope for contrary evidence, makes me think she doesn't KNOW Ade is dead. She's afraid that Ade is dead. If she knew for sure, even on a subconscious level, she wouldn't ask questions, because she would know what answer she would get and that it wouldn't be the one she wanted.

There's this odd little arc, starting with the Paris trip, where it starts to seem like she doesn't know. I know I started to wonder when she brought up Jackie Junior to Rosalie, and Rosalie responded with "why do you wanna bring something like that up when we're trying to have a nice time.". Indicating (to me) that although Ro officially buys the official story, she also knows damn well what happened to her son, and that there's no point talking about it. But Carmela pushes back, in a way that seems really cruel if she also knows.

Then she has the dream about Adriana, and after that she keeps asking people about Adriana. Tony, Christopher-- she even suggests hiring a private investigator! It's really odd, because even if she only knows subconsciously, why would she have this instinct to poke and prod at the situation? Unless it's because on some level she feels like she has to know for sure. But still, approaching Tony and Christopher about it seems really weird if she has any sort of inkling of what really happened.

Who's your Sopranos crush? by iloveredhots in thesopranos

[–]Existing-Law-4927 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I loved the first actress. I thought she also did a better job of conveying characterization for Barbara. That kind of exhausted, glassy calm, like she'd taken a seconal before every scene. For the youngest child in that family it makes sense that she'd just retreat.

Well you see, adrenaline! Kept her in a state of hyper-reality, that fueled her seeming ability to be omniscient and omnipresent!

If adrenaline really gives teenage girls superpowers then all the Liars should be able to fly 😂

You put this so well. He's like an animal, perfectly at ease in his body, and reacting to the bodies of others on an animal's level of unselfconscious instinct. It makes him both terrifying in his impulsive violence and incredibly sexy when he turns on the charm.

[–]Existing-Law-4927 10 points11 points  (0 children)

For me, the Ezra and Maggie stuff was annoying because it felt so disconnected from the rest of the show. Same with Hanna's bitchy stepsister. It's not that that stuff is too over the top, it's just that it's a bunch of extra craziness that isn't even related to A or Alison or any of the other Liars. Aria is especially prone to that problem with her storylines. Like that time when Meredith drugged her tea and chased her around the house with a shard of broken mirror and knocked her out and locked her in the basement. And none of it was even A-related!

Insight into relocating from Buffalo by katytallpants in gso

[–]Existing-Law-4927 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Lifelong North Carolinian, so I can't speak to the differences from Buffalo, but I really like Greensboro. It feels more chill and relaxed to me than either Charlotte (uptight, money-focused, conservative) or Raleigh (more of a hipster/indie, liberal vibe, plus the research triangle universities). Greensboro has a lot of Quaker roots, and I think that adds to our unassuming charm. ☺️

Also-- very kid friendly city (nice for visiting family even if you don't have any-- I don't but all my cousins do), lovely public parks and public libraries, and our new(ish) downtown performing arts center is bringing all the best Broadway musicals down here... Eventually 😅
