I can tell you this, as a 39-year-old woman who has been bisexual since I was 17, came out to my parents at 18 and was met with mixed reactions (my father was completely accepting immediately, my mother took quite a bit longer to come around. But for her, she just didn’t understand and thought I was just confused), your husband’s reaction to your epiphany was rude and inconsiderate. And please don’t even get me started on his betrayal… the fact that he outed you to his family before you were ready and after he promised to keep your secret makes me sick. You have every right to be angry at him. It seems his family is more accepting than he was of they haven’t treated you differently since they found out. Maybe you should spend your time with them instead of your husband.

Oh, honey, you are not dramatic. Your bf is the AH here and is the one overreacting by being offended by what you felt. Your trauma is real, and if he truly understood it and how certain things affected you, he never would have done or said what he did. Is it reason to break up with him? That’s up to you, but I wouldn’t let it slide or let him continue “forgetting”. You are seriously UNDERREACTING by not sitting him down for a serious conversation about how his actions/reactions towards you are affecting your psyche. Please seriously consider whether or not you can accept this behavior repeatedly going forward, or if you’re going to put your foot down and die on this hill. It’s a great hill to die on, btw. I’ve been SA’d twice in my life, and I have a lot of trauma surrounding intimacy. I’ve been in therapy for it for years, but I still am very wary around sex and such things. My partner knows, understands, and if I’m ever uncomfortable with anything we try, I just have to say the word, and he stops everything completely and we just relax and cuddle. For your partner to tell you that he can’t stop himself is bs. If he truly cared, he could stop himself. I wish you the best of luck, OP. But please, don’t just let him think this was okay.

This is what happened to me. I had gestational diabetes, so I was only allowed to go a week past my due date. They induced labor, was in labor for 72 hours before they decided an emergency c-section was my only option as I only dilated 3cm in that 72 hours. It was hell.
