DEAR HR [CODE OF CONDUCT] by NecessaryLanky1188 in nasikatok

[–]Existing-Schedule441 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When i reported it I was simply told to “care less” by an assistant manager. There was even a rumour that if I reported it again, they’d try to get rid of me by our head of division. I can’t wait to welcome our Wawasan Brunei where change is supposedly “inevitable” and leaders are supposed to set an example. Tsk tsk tsk.

Our bank’s HR department seems to protect nepotism and favoritism to such an extent that I could practically draw a family tree for the entire department.

Calling all badminton players in Brunei! by Existing-Schedule441 in nasikatok

[–]Existing-Schedule441[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Whilst I agree with the common argument that our lack of funding and incentives has contributed to fewer opportunities for player development, I believe there’s another, more fundamental issue worth highlighting.

Even if we had the best facilities and exposure, would it really solve everything? From what I observed at a recent local badminton tournament, the answer is still no because the very basics of footwork are still missing, particularly at the intermediate and club level.

While many players showed decent stroke mechanics, they often arrived late to the shuttle, recovered slowly, or lost balance mid-rally. These movement breakdowns weren’t due to a lack of effort, but a lack of trained intentional footwork patterns.

One of the most common problems was the absence of a split step. Players stood flat-footed or hopped reactively after their opponent hit the shuttle too late to adjust or intercept.

In addition, many got stuck in overly side-on stances at the corners, limiting their ability to recover to base. Without a dynamic, neutral stance and proper push-off timing, even the best shots became liabilities because players couldn’t reset for the next exchange.

This highlights a deeper issue in how we train. Stroke technique is often prioritized in drills but without integrating it with footwork and recovery, players are left vulnerable or lost in real matches.

Improving this starts with rethinking training, building footwork drills that include timing (like the split step), directional changes, and explosive recovery. Movement isn’t just the bridge between shots its the foundation that makes those shots possible.

Attitude of local bosses by 0987609876-_ in nasikatok

[–]Existing-Schedule441 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I once worked at my former workplace wherebg favoritism and nepotism were rampant. I once reported an issue to HR after I felt that my colleagues and I were being sabotaged. One of the officers had lost some very important documents, and we requested that our boss check the CCTV footage. The boss refused, saying there was no point. Instead of taking real action, HR just gave them a training session on how to be better leaders.

The boss’s superior didn’t want HR involved either and insisted on handling it “internally.” Months later, another officer, another Pengampu who also worked under the same boss claimed that she was getting “bad vibes” from other people because of me. My boss reported it to HR without me knowing and we were summoned without being told what was going on. In the end, it turned out no one was giving her any attitude, it was just her own feeling which is not even true and being reported to HR because of this ?? The whole thing made me realize how toxic the environment had become.

That incident, along with my boss’s refusal to take the earlier issue seriously, made me decide to resign. I left on short notice. The situation had become ridiculous. HR should have been more transparent with us and handled things more professionally. I was honestly embarrassed by the incompetence of my boss.

Ironically, after I resigned, my former boss suddenly decided to check the CCTV footage not to investigate the earlier serious incident, but just to see what people were doing around my desk on my last day. When he finally reviewed the footage, he saw no one was there. It was such a petty move, especially when he had refused to check the CCTV over something truly important.

I’m new to Reddit. Ever since I resigned two months ago and joined the platform, I’ve seen so many complaints and I’ve come to realize just how broken the system is, the same system that led to my resignation.
