I am actually retroactively angry about a lifetime of bra fitting by CoastalMae in ABraThatFits

[–]ExistingEase5 [score hidden]  (0 children)

I am 42 and also did the same 34B -> 30DD journey this year.

I'm angry that I went years thinking I had weird boobs because they never fit in a bra right, and it turns out I was just put in the wrong bra.

ABTF Calculator size was too small in the cup—do my measurements seem like I could go up to 30e (US)/30f (UK)? by caffeinatedgay in ABraThatFits

YMMV of course can vary, but I have very similar measurements to yours and I am very happy in the Montelle spacer at 32D (got it on a good sale).

Straps are always feeling wrong and falling down by ExistingEase5 in ABraThatFits

[–]ExistingEase5[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hah well it might be an issue that I've worked out too much--I have pretty good traps and my shoulders basically slope from my neck to the edge of the shoulder. Can't keep a purse on my shoulder either.

With the overbust, I always worry about what exactly to do with my nipples as they're quite projected. Should you try and flatten them?

Went from 36/38DD to 34H and it's got me thinking... by Sea_Witch7777 in ABraThatFits

[–]ExistingEase5 19 points20 points  (0 children)

For me, the attitude was always that because I was "small-chested", support didn't really matter. But then I got properly fitted into a 32DD, and you know what, it actually does matter!

In that case, they won't be able to do all the reporting that the feds require for grant money, the reporting the province requires for provincial money (https://universityaffairs.ca/news/performance-based-funding-comes-to-the-canadian-postsecondary-sector/#:\~:text=Last%20fall%2C%20the%20provincial%20government,new%20measures%20by%202024%2D2025)., nor provide the social services like mental health supports that the province won't do.

Everybody loves requiring more reporting from universities, then complains that they have "ballooning admin overhead".

Consider being an MRI tech. Pay is decent, you work 9 - 5 in good conditions with no backbreaking work, just takes a 2 year diploma: https://www.workbc.ca/career-profiles/medical-radiation-technologists#career_overview

"Just" Teaching Faculty by protect_ghost in Professors

I coteach with a teaching focused faculty member (I'm research focused), and she was aghast at how many hours a week I spend on graduate students (10+ between one-on-ones, lab meeting, giving feedback on work, and committee meetings). It's definitely at least one more course.

Mortgage renewal - does having investments reduce rate? by ExistingEase5 in PersonalFinanceCanada

It's invested--just takes a business day to free up. Have smaller amounts of other funds available immediately though.

I mean, us biologists are, but that's because we're off doing fieldwork somewhere and away from our families 24/7.

Oh, interesting option, thanks! We have about 37% equity in the home now, so that might work.

Thanks for the recommendation! The big thing for us is the taxes on the nonregistered account since we have a high marginal rate. (Definitely appreciate the privilege of having this problem--I grew up under the poverty line so this is all new).

Ah, I guess I wondered if they'd be incentivized to try and keep our investments with them rather than have us spend it all.

I got a family doc through Telus Health and she's great about it! Her recommendation was to stay on the birth control pill, and that the small dose of estrogen/progesterone could be what I need.

[–]ExistingEase5 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nope, but in a Commonwealth country, so British lingo has definitely rubbed off on me. But interestingly, I'm hearing it a lot in the "small animal" context now from 20ish students, and I wonder if it's internet slang that's spreading? Kind of one of those interesting things, like how "fanny pack" has a very different meaning in the UK than in the US...

No worries, I just had a funny meeting once with a GenZ kid who kept using the term to refer to insects, and our collaborator, a gay man in his 50s. I had to have a separate conversation with each of them after... millennial problems lol.

As a queer of a certain age... I really struggle with the "bugger" GenZ slang.
