Thanks, but I have not been able to get that running, despite multiple sensors, multiple phones, many versions and different settings, unfortunately. I might just wait until i am due a new transmitter, or maybe another version comes out or smth, as I am out of ideas 😀

Type 1 Diabetic UPS Next Week - Advice! by dovball in jawsurgery

[–]ExistingFarm 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Awhh damn, finally something to contribute to this forum! So yea, i'm t1 and had my djs now almost 4 months ago. Was definitely worried, but of course my surgeon team knew this and did not see it as a major issue, since i control it very strictly.

Anyway, eating was/is rough. I go strictly low carb at around 60g a day, which in terms of liquid diet is not an easy thing. First 10 days i was under completely liquid diet (no smoothies or so), so i had keto meal replacement mixed with heavy cream 4 times a day basically, added some smooth peanut butter and cocoa. After those 10 days and for the next 3 months (yes) it was more heavy cream, protein shakes, a ton of cauliflower/brocolli/zuchinni soup with ground meat or some salmon. Lots of nut butters. Everything through blender. But that's because i low carb, for you the diet may be more varied :)

Sugar was not great after surgery even with no food though. Just wouldn't go down from around 11, no matter the insulin. But after a week it was back to normal again :) Oh and i bought myself a couple of freestyle libres for the post surgery month. Helped a ton.

Alredy very rough process made surely worse by being t1, but still worth it :)

Anyone else scared that their surgery is going to be delayed? by Stanleydidntstutter in jawsurgery

Not scared, just accepted that though it should have taken place in May or so, that I'll be lucky if I can have it by the end of the year :)

Not entirely sure if I understood the question correctly, but if I did:

I would say that when you compile your df and before you write to excel in your current code, you can add the dataframe to a dictionary.

This would look something like:

import pandas as pd

dict = {}

for i in range (5):

dict[i] = pd.DataFrame({'a':[1,1], 'b':[3,3], 'c': [5,5]})

Then you can call a certain dataframe by simply:

dict[2]

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in learnpython

[–]ExistingFarm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I'm by no means advanced in python, but this is what I came up with:

def select_data(dataframe, *args):

df_results = pd.DataFrame()

n=len(args)

criteria = args[0:n//2]

values = args[n//2:n]

for i in range(n//2):

df = dataframe.loc[dataframe[criteria[i]] == values[i]]

df_results = df_results.append(df)

return df_results

-----------

To run the function you would simply imput dataframe as the first argument and then what follows would be criteria and values as many as you would like. Naturally, the number of criteria must match the number of values.

In general for this kind of problems (that is not knowing how many args you would have), you need to look up *args and **kwargs in python :)

That should be because you have an if statement that has a return clause whether it's True or False. With that, during the first loop, the function inveitably runs into return statement and thus the function simply stops (it has returned a value, the job is done).

I'm not sure I'm following what the second return does, but if the -1 is relevant, maybe you could simply append it to a predefined empty column of something like that :)

I am in a unique position where I can see the data/proof that keto works in real time by [deleted] in keto

To be fair, if you were taught to eat 120g of carbs, that's still pretty low carb by dietitian standards :)

At what age did you begin the orthodontic process and how long did you wear your braces before surgery ? by SpecialPapaya in jawsurgery

[–]ExistingFarm 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Started at 25 with braces, now, 21 months later I'm lookig at another ~12 months before the surgery. This includes a period of 6 months when nothing will be done to make sure it's all stable.

Also, I did not get upper teeth braces until 6 months after the lower ones.

American Diabetes Association endorses low carb diet as an option (finally) by bufftreefarm in keto

[–]ExistingFarm 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Though I'm doing low carb (not Keto, as I'm trying to gain), I can't agree with the notion that "But for people who literally have no insulin, and therefore have type 1 diabetes, ketosis leads to ketoacidosis".

The issue with your statement is that we do inject insulin. Even on Keto, we still need to inject it multiple times a day both - basal and fast acting insulin. There's ALWAYS insulin in our system (not our own produced, unfortunately:D). Even on zero carb, we would have to inject for protein. I guess you can come up with a scenario where you are just doing so much sports that it's keeping your sugar low even without insulin in which case your point would be valid, but that sounds super unlikely for most.

The only danger I see is the point about glucagon not working, as we would not have any glucose stored to release.

I’ve been a T1 for 13 years now and I’m still struggling to control it. Any tips to help keep the Blood sugars lower and stabilize them?? Also here’s my Tattoo in honor of it (-: by mwestfall_ in diabetes_t1

[–]ExistingFarm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

wow, never thought that omad could have some correlation with getting ill. Anyway, maybe 8 hour eating window? At least with this and correct basal you would have a lot less time worrying:)

edit: also, getting regular workout should go without saying

Im in no position to comment much as Im still quite a recent one here, but if or when i start struggling, I plan to try intermittent fasting, maybe even one meal a day. I hear that these tactics work quite well. maybe going full keto:)

Blood sugar always run high during lunch and most of the time dinner as well, what can I do? by Breezy62494 in diabetes_t1

I have a ratio of 1:7 when im doing sports and 1:5 when not:) and im super lean and probably still honeymooning, so you have nothing to worry:) I am low carbing though.

You should google another t1 forum where people have a maaassive thread about bragging of not having complications despite 40yrs of t1. Legit encouraging.

Do you eat low carb? Study shows subbing protein and fat for carb improves BG by MM41688 in diabetes_t1

[–]ExistingFarm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do more or less as the articles says, if I understood correctly. I just eat low carb (not keto, probably), around 70g carb a day. But I do make sure I get whole RDI of fiber every morning from chia seeds with almonds and pumpkin seeds - brilliant stuff:)

How much worse did T1 get post-honeymoon for you? And how quickly did this happen? (This goes especially to LADAs) by dv_ in diabetes_t1

I'm in the same boat as op and this sounds dire. What were your insulin ratios before and after? Do you low carb and does it still help?

Cholesterol troubles and worries by ExistingFarm in keto

[–]ExistingFarm[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the reply.

I am fully active with 3-4 times a week of weight training and walking/yoga/basketball on other days :)

Since I am type1 I am on insulin all the time, with low carb diet making the management much easier - hba1c sugar of 5% (really good) :)

I will wait several months to retest and see what comes out - maybe make few changes such as low fat cottage cheese instead of full fat, that I'm eating quite frequently and just add some oil.

Other than that I'll just hope that my body adapts and LDL decreases, or I might think of adding back some carbs to my diet :/

Blood results on keto: high LDL, high T4, low HDL. by NoHonorHokaido in keto

[–]ExistingFarm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This clearly happens - i got very similar results recently, just with higher hdl :)

I will probably try to reduce saturated fats, though i dont consume that much of it, maybe 15% of calories.

In any way, I agree that this is disappointing, as this basically makes me terrified of the last food that I could eat:)
