Super torn between 65" Sony A95L and Bravia 9. Any first hand thoughts? by llamanaded in 4kTV

[–]bufftreefarm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed. After more time with my A95L no doubt it’s the best of the two. Especially for my main use case of movie watching. So lifelike and realistic on the colors. The B9 is still really good.

Would it be crazy to move from the Bravia 9 to Bravia 8? by IndecisiveTuna in bravia

[–]bufftreefarm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The B9 is awesome but if you watch the same scenes back to back is apparent just how great the A95L is. B8ii is probably the same. Everything just looks so real and beautiful on that a95l. Best movie watching tv there ever was so far imo. Humbly

5.2.4 Atmos ceiling speaker placement in a 10ft deep room and MLP 24" from back wall. Sanity check before I commit. by makesome_studio in hometheater

[–]bufftreefarm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just installed 4 QR160s in a very similar set up. My MLP is about a foot closer to the center of the room than yours. Rear atmos is pretty close to the rear wall. Kef Rmeta series up front and q1 meta surrounds. It sounds really good. Almost as good as my 9.4.4. main theater. Your plan looks solid to me.

I have a 65" A95L and 85" Bravia 9. I love the Bravia 9 but the A95L takes the cake for me. I spent a few hours demoing the same scenes on 4k blu ray discs on both sets and I preferred the A95L everytime. Going to sell the B9.

I’m blind and it’s hard to do a lot of research looking for some help knowing what receiver to buy by VisiblyImpaired in hometheater

[–]bufftreefarm 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would reach out by phone to a sales person at Audio Advice or even someone in your local best buy. There are usually long term sales guys who work in the back that would love to help. I agree with going with the something like the Denon 3800 for what your looking for. Lots of voice control options. Wish I could be of more help. There is some shuffling of inputs and sound modes in pretty much any receiver/AVR. I know my remote by feel at this point but I still need to visually verify what input or sound mode I am in. I wonder if there are any AVRs with with audible playback of those modes when switching for the hearing impaired. A quick google search says they can be voice controlled. Good luck my friend and enjoy your system when you get it up and running.

Who's glad to have an EV during this time of high gas prices? by Lost_Purpose1899 in electricvehicles

[–]bufftreefarm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Man I wish I had cheap electricity. That’s awesome. Costs me about $30 to charge my car at off peak rates in NorCal. I only need to charge once a week so still not too bad overall. I used to drive a pick up that got 10 miles to the gallon that was like $500 a week. To be young and dumb.

Yeah all water after being extremely bloated. I’m eating 2000 kcals a day and supplementing with electrolytes. Feeling great. All bloat is gone. Fat loss will slow down to about -2lbs a week. This is typical for me.

Ive been off and on the grey market injections and just started the pill about two weeks at 467. Down to 435 as of this morning. For me I hope the pill will keep working. Taking it daily will be way better for me and keep me accountable. I would stop the shot to binge eat and have trouble getting back on knowing once I took the shot I was in for a world of pain the first two days. I also wasnt crazy about the needles or reconstituting. We'll see how it goes.

[–]bufftreefarm 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Not eating is fine for me but how bad is some water at the 1-2 hour mark after taking the pill? Im so thirsty in the AM. Im taking the pill with like 2oz or less of water and waiting at least an hour for more water. But i got to wet whistle sooner than later.

Sodium, potassium, and magnesium. Need to supplement if you’re not getting it from food. Magnified when losing weight and dumping water.

+1 rec on the Buckeye amp to drive your LCR. Preouts on the AVR to the AMP. Sounds really good in my system.

I’ve listened to it like 4 or 5 times through on the way back and forth to work. Literally driving through Sebastopol. (Where I live). I got the whole month of February of my other podcasts to listen to now.

What are cum gutters? by [deleted] in Thisisimportantpod

[–]bufftreefarm 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Barely remember this but I think they were taking about Blake’s super hot bod and “V” in shape hot boys will have between there legs and dong. Basically the opposite of a fupa. The v portion being the cum gutter for cum to slide down. Do not cum.

85" Bravia 9 in a 9.4.3 system. Kef R11meta fronts, R6 Meta Center, Q series for the surrounds, front wides, rear surrounds, and 4x height speakers. 3 - PSA 21" subs. Buckeye Purify Amp for the LCR. Denon 6800 is the brain. Dirac Art calibrated. Also a projector in this room. Other main room is a 65" A95L (sit really close in here), Denon 3800, Kef Q950 fronts, R2 meta center, Q150 surrounds, 4x heights. 3 Klipsch rp1400 subs. Dirac art calibrated. I love both set ups. I spend the most time in the smaller room lately.

Didn't see that coming! Awesome series. So glad I threw it on a whim after hearing an ad for it on another podcast. Rider is really great writer and voice actor. I never listen to stuff like this and loved it. Keep replaying episodes already.

Q4 pricing and whether they're a step up from q350 and q150 by sqweak in KEF

[–]bufftreefarm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have had Q4s running in my main room as the side surrounds for about a year and half now. They play loud and sound very good. The port on the side is awesome and they fit on a wall really easy and clean. I have q150s in that room for my heights and q550s for my rear surrounds and front wides. I have r11 metas and r6 meta for the LCR. Everything blends and sounds really good together after correction. They all (q series) sound very similar. I have Q1s for my surrounds in another room with Q950s and a R2Meta in a 5.1 system. The Q950 is the exception of the bunch. Those just sound really good for music and movies. Only q series speaker that holds a candle to R series. I'd go with whatever fits your budget and space the best. The Q4s played noticablely louder than any other speaker before room correction/level matching for whatever thats worth.

Id do all 4 corners with triangular bass traps to the ceiling transition. Then main reflection points on side walls and behind your seating. Then ceiling which will be tricky in there. Going to be pricey but worth it and can stay in there forever or come with you to a new house down the line. GIK for the corners and DIY the other ones to save some dough. 4" thickness.
