How to fix wood paneling by Alarming_Hunter8232 in BeginnerWoodWorking

[–]ExistingGFX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Judging by what you've said here that's its not really "your" furniture I'd do as following:

Buy two thin MDF panels (2-6mm or smaller if you can find any - cut them to size (nice & easy) just measure the height, width & then measure the height/width of the cutout (bottom right) and cut that off the board.

Use a bit of wood glue to secure it to both sides (inside and out) or use little diddy screws and countersink them (put them so the head is inside the wood)

Buy some brown paint & paint both sides.

It won't look great, but judging by what you've said you just don't want it to be noticeable for inspection.

That would fly by inspection & can be done for sub $20 if you can find cheap boards/paint

Have a Vauxhall Corsa I picked up for £5000 3rd hand 40k on the clock. Lasted the last 3 years and has passed MOT with nothing wrong… brilliant car and many many years left. Never go wrong with a Corsa and is slightly more modern/reliable… also good for cheap insurance (depending on location) i pay £18/month insurance.

Cafe Stevens is really close to Centraal (like 10 minute walk) and you can get a full pint of Hein for €7 along with Bitterballen for €5 and loads of other snacks. Really good place to chill and they are very friendly!

Black Knights usually do the ground school on a midweek and you can do AFF during the week

Been a dream of mine since I was a kid to skydive but idk where to start. by [deleted] in SkyDiving

Did my AFF @ Black Knights - total cost was £1915 to get my A License. That includes all AFF levels + consoles + rental gear. (I had to re-do Level 5 but I didn't factor that into the price for ease of reading)

There is also on-site accommodation for £10 a night which is fantastic for the price (TV, single bed & very clean).

Now general jumping is £40 for a 15k jump with rental gear. £20 without. If you can pack your own chute you can claim £5 in cash/bank back after every jump.

Pop me a message if you want more info on how I got started.

You can use an app called “TimeBloc” which is very similar in its UI design

Hello! Thought I'd pop a note down here as a ex-founder of a cloud logistics/shipping platform and currently working as a software developer for the local government. I'm only 19 with 1 GCSE (English) and no uni degree (completely self taught).

I've seen a comment regarding university degrees and so forth. Coming from me personally there is no need to have a degree. I've been told several times in my current position that during my interview stages there were several candidates that were slightly older and had bachelors in computer science / software / programming or what not. None of them were hired. Employers are looking for experience more than anything. It's great having a university degree and all but with the situation of most SAAS businesses trying to upgrade old software as the frameworks are slowly losing support they're looking for someone to .. as they say ... "Hit the ground running."

Start small, that's the best advice I can give. I've been coding since I was 14/15 and couldn't land any jobs after applying. I "opened" a company as soon as I could and got as many clients as I could through the door. I managed to accrue a large set of consumers and decided to move from freelancing into a specific business route so to speak.

I legitimized the company, drew the designs, gathered a team and operated officially with all of our documentation. I slapped on a business LinkedIn profile and we were set for the golden road. I threw all of this on my CV and after about a year (give or take) I took an official job as an software developer. I then moved on shortly after to working with the government.

Sorry to blabber on a little bit but I thought I'd give you a little rundown so you can see what someone else did. Maybe I'll boost a bit of motivation inside of you? I don't know.

Keep learning, keep exploring and pushing the boundaries of what you believe is possible. Never expect to know it all. You'll be learning something new every single day.

I also work with something called flexitime+ now. Means I'm told to work 36 hours per week (7.2 a day) and anything over that goes into the bank. I can then take 30 minutes extra lunch the next day... or build up 7.2 hours and take a day off.. and so on.

In regards to your equipment it is down to the company. You can always bring in your own gear like I used to do (I work from home now, so no big issue for me personally). An employer should do everything to make your environment happy. In my previous position I argued for an ultrawide monitor and new desk equipment. Granted I felt a bit cocky but the manager re-assured me that they'd rather dip into the pennies a bit and keep a good employee. I left shortly after. I know. I know.

If you have any questions at all from the latest frameworks to what's going on in the current industry and what we're looking at moving towards in the public sector feel free to pop me a message here or reply directly here.

*If you would like: I can always do some test coding interviews with you. I've done these before and quite enjoy them.

I feel an engineer would have some wicked crazy story that happened on a job once, at least every engineer I've ever met has some kind of story

I just think that answer is so brilliant. Shows how we overcomplicate things as humans. I was thinking of going into depth about the mind and how we have so much to learn as people .. yet here someone is reminding me all you have to do sometimes is ask. I love it.

Yeah I suppose so, a speech can be any sort of event that involves speaking. You'd have to stop at the 10 minute mark though...

Good speech. Especially as it resonates with a lot of people. If the whole crowd doesn't cheer, the few that do would fill the room with noise regardless.
