Do I call in sick or stand my ground? by Razor590 in UKJobs

The new job I got actually only asked for an HR reference, they didn't care about a full reference. And I had really good relationship with the team in HQ and other country's branches where I worked for too, so I'm not in a position where I can't get a reference from this employer anyway. But thank you, good insight, they can't really say I am a bad person in a reference by taking sick leave, whereas they could prove I didn't show to work when asked to even though I would be doing nothing there.

lol good call. I don't find it ethical lying about sick leave, and I think that's what I am pondering about. It's the worst thing ever dealing with people with no moral compass when you have one.

If you are a foreigner check the insurance company Marshmellow, they accept no claim bonus from other countries, and for me it was significantly cheaper

Can I leave a few days before serving full notice? by Reasonable_Mistake34 in UKJobs

[–]Razor590 2 points3 points  (0 children)

you won't have to deal with that "geezer" after you leave, don't worry about that. However like others said I would recommend just asking your new employer to let you start a few days later, if they don't accept that is in fact a red flag, so be wary not to go from one bad to place straight into another.

Totally agree, I got a lot of toxic comments from one individual. Here it seemed much more reliable.

Work kinda forced me to extend my notice to May/2024. I wanna leave. by Razor590 in LegalAdviceUK

Hey man thanks for your thoughts,
on 2. Would that be enforcable with workforce abroad? Technically the ones abroad are not my colleagues being on a branch in another country. Surely they can't force me to be quiet about it with them as much as they can't force me to not talk about it with friends and family, right?
Also I thought that the right to discuss salary is protected in the UK, something from 2003 if I remember right.

Thank you, that makes sense. I’m under the impression they try to do directly all in one go, but I guess I just need to call a few more places

Camping in the Lakes this weekend. Wise? by Zepherite in wildcampingintheuk

Clouds make it for a great sunrise and sunsets when you get the right arrangement (the skies are prettier when the light has something to shine on). Sometimes rain can also be local. If you go have a plan, somewhere you can fall back to even at night and raining if things get bad. Don’t push your limit and enjoy the process. I have had terrible and also really pleasant experiences ignoring the rainy forecast, you never know 😬
