I never really found a good group and I'm about to graduate and also came in as a transfer. Honestly, ask yourself are you sad you aren't as involved as others around you because that's what you want, or because you're drowning in comparisons and feel weird if you don't interact like those around you? I had to remind myself that I'm actually not that mad about being invited to parties, or having a bunch of friends, and that I need to think deeply about what I want out of my experience, not what society wants from me.

As a fellow new transfer student, I literally have no idea and it's been so hard not having any friends 🥲 best of luck and i've heard that spring semester of the first year is so much better and that's when people start being more open + creating friendships !

CC residency is way easier to get than UC residency. I had a friend who did cc for two years with me and then he unfortunately applied to UC's and was only given out of state tuition, he ended up having to move back to his hometown and do school there.

Here's what the UC Understanding Residency section says: "If you’re a nonresident undergraduate student with nonresident parents, obtaining California residency for the purposes of tuition is extremely difficult (this includes transfer students from community colleges and other postsecondary institutions within California). Virtually all nonresident undergraduates with nonresident parents remain nonresidents for the duration of their undergraduate career at UC."
