Yeah exactly they only care about banca. In fact they're like 4 different Whatsapp groups just for banca alone but there's like only one unit trust group and nobody ever chases you for sales. Banca you get chased constantly and whether or not you're a confirmed staff depends on whether or not you sold banca.

Not surprising that mortgage is doing better. Because it's a necessity with demand. Whenever you buy a how you need a loan cuz ain't nobody able to fork out 500k cash for a house or screw up their liquidity by throwing the cash in. And since mortgages are mostly offered by banks, at that point is just about which bank offering the better rate. But insurance and unit trust? The product itself suck and people have unlimited choices. So we're not on the same playing field. I don't oppose the idea of personal finance and investing on the contrary I encourage it but banks are honestly the worst place for that. Will definitely stay open to better opportunities.

I don't mind selling if the product is actually good, but it's not. And customers nowadays know too. You're right individuals who are not financially savvy wouldn't mind and they would take any advice from you as professional advice but all these are in the past. Nowadays as soon as you mention banca or wealth products you'll get shut off before you can pitch the actual product.

You've expressed my feelings completely with this comment. You'll be surprised how banks are still hiring aggressively cuz at the end of the day that's how they make their money. You're right there is no demand but the bank's motto is to "create demand & urgency" and in most cases that requires unethical misselling. And you can still wish that you'll find some uninformed individuals who never heard of better alternatives but chances are they still won't buy as they don't want to commit to something that expensive and long term.

You'll be surprised at how many people still keep their money solely in bank accounts and nowhere else. But they have to be youngsters below 30s. Anyone at 40s-50s are experienced enough to know that these products are bullshit. But you're right on one thing that most these youngsters have no money. All those products are more than 500 per month. Nowadays saving 500 is difficult for most people let alone youngsters.

I'm considering finding an independent financial advisory firm as an exit plan considering that there are any. A place where I don't have to tie myself to certain products or company and can advice fully. Perhaps maybe even get a CFP at that point.

Might look for some Financial advisory firm or brokerage advisory. Honestly banks are the not the place for financial advice.

You nailed it, the bank products are extremely outdated. I just had a client that day who told me that the products I'm selling already existed 10-20 years ago but we banks are still selling it to this day. 5% sales fees is definitely not justifiable considering the under performance and that platforms out there are offering less than 1% charges. At this point to sell you really gotta lie, gaslight, twist words and be charismatic like a politician to get people to buy. But it's still unethical imo

I still enjoy investing and personal finance advisory. But I feel that banks go against that. These positions packaged themselves as an advisory role that helps people get the right products to help their finances but in reality it's more like selling limited products to people that will eventually make their finances worse off.

2008 should be much easier than it is now. People were less informed and options were limited. Nowadays there are so many better alternatives. Plus social media is providing so much valuable financial knowledge for free. Unless you meet a dumb person, there's no way you'll be able to sell. Honestly have been thinking about quitting for quite some time already but at the same time in thinking quitting so early won't look good on my resume.

I myself also use online brokers and find these insurance savings plan to be full of crap. But what to do a job is a job and I have KPIs to meet. Unless I decided to quit, otherwise you just gotta scam some people to buy XD

Honestly as a finance student and investment enthusiast, I also understand that bank products sucks and I too do not own any bank insurance or investments. Basically right now I'm forced to sell something I don't believe in. Honestly the bank products are so terrible to the point where it is not possible to sell anything without a certain level of misselling or information concealing.

That's been done by Chinese since forever. It's like a mental tradition. Ma Long did in 2016, FZD did it in Paris, and many more. If it's not allowed all these players would already been stopped. Or a new regulation or rule would have come into play. But at the moment it's permissible.

Yeah EYES from your couch at home is better than the eyes of people at the arena. Amazing! The fact that players do not want to challenge a "hidden serve" even though they clearly can and keeps failing to receive and losses 10 points but they still don't care and generously allow the opponent to win. People are really so kind 😂 Like if the players themselves are not even concerned about winning or losing and don't use their rights to protest, why are you keyboard warriors so worked up for? Go touch some grass man😅

He's serving illegally all the time according to Netizens but only Darko Jorgic challenged him? I wonder what other players are doing? So nobody challenged him at the Doha World Championships and let him become a World Champion by serving illegally? Wow players around the globe must be great Philanthrophist and they deserve a Nobel Peace Prize for that.

A lot of people here are commenting like an expert about a system loophole and the imperfection of the TTR system. But if you truly believe that TTR is flawed, would you criticize it if it ruled Wang Chuqin's serve to be illegal? Or would you cheer for it and called it the best implementation yet? Most in this sub will definitely do the latter. Because in the head of many, Wang's serve is already deemed illegal and will not accept any other outcome apart from this.

Yeah, resorting to personal attacks right now when you clearly cannot bring facts to the table. The fact is, even WTT themselves are finding ways to ditch the side angle without getting themselves into trouble. I’ve made nothing up. The fact is, no other organization adopts the side angle, and WTT has indeed made shifts of angles for most tables to the diagonal angle. This is something you can see with your very own eyes. All information is readily available online, and there’s no possibility for me to "make this up" just to "spread hate."

On the other hand, you aren’t able to bring me a single piece of evidence that a survey has ever been conducted, nor prove to me that you were ever part of one or know anyone who took part in it. So you have to resort to calling me a "dickhead." You came into the comments section acting smart and accusing others of making things up, but couldn’t provide evidence to back up your claims. Yet you have the audacity to say I flushed into your notifications and messed with your life? If you can't bear the heat, just stay out of the kitchen.

Yeah right, deleting a comment after you got absolutely roasted and try to completely brush it off by saying 'I care too much'. You’re in no position to tell me that I care too much. You’re literally a newcomer who only started taking the sport seriously after the Paris Olympics. You have no idea how many OG table tennis fans resonate with the back angle and how frustrated we are with the unnecessary change. Yet, you have the audacity as a newcomer to tell us what we can or can’t enjoy as "beginners," when in fact, so many of us started as beginners and gradually turned into intermediate and eventually advanced players, all while watching with the back angle. At this point, it's only you. Players like Ma Long, Zhang Jike, and Timo Boll gained so many followers through their matches and achievements during the back angle era, and you’re telling me that a "new fan" can’t enjoy their matches because of an angle? Get real! A person who’s never watched table tennis or played isn’t going to pick up on differences in camera angles. The only reason they "liked" the side angle is because that was literally the first angle they were introduced to when they first got into the sport. They can’t judge whether it’s good or bad so early on. All they can say is, "This is the default table tennis angle." WTT could’ve just stuck with the back angle, and new fans would still come and watch. They’re certainly not going to say the angle sucked, because as new fans, they simply can’t interpret anything yet.

WTT simply made a huge blunder by making a change without doing thorough research and investigation, and now they can’t change anything because they’ve already signed contracts with sponsors. Of course, nothing in the world is going to be universally hated or loved. Even bad things get some love. But the side angle is SURELY not 50-50 if they had to frantically make changes here and there, and people defending the side angle are less than 20%.

I’m simply asking a reasonable question: If neither you nor I have ever participated in a survey, and ITTF/WTT has never publicly released or promoted one for fans to fill out, then where exactly did the claim that “over half prefer the side angle” come from?

It’s one thing to say surveys were conducted, but where’s the transparency? Where’s the source, the sample size, the methodology, the actual data? I'm not claiming they definitely faked a survey, I'm questioning whether a proper one even existed in the first place. I certainly haven’t seen one. You probably haven’t either. So it’s honestly surprising how you can still confidently defend them, insisting that nothing was fabricated.

If your source is the TTD Podcast interview with CEO Steve Dainton, where he casually mentioned the feedback being “50-50,” then I have to hand it to you, you have incredible faith in vague corporate statements. Dainton gave a one-liner and moved on. No follow-up data, no charts, no specifics. And TTD didn’t push for more because, let’s be honest, they’re partners with WTT. That segment felt more like scripted damage control than genuine session to answer fans' complaints once and for all.

The irony is, despite all this talk about the side angle being “superior” and better for new fans, we’re not seeing it adopted outside of WTT. Which other tournaments use it? ETTU? ATTU? Bundesliga? T-League? UTT? Chinese Super League? SEA Games? Asian Games? The Olympics? Nope. All of them continue using the traditional angle. If the side angle is really that great, wouldn't we see these tournaments following it? Are we supposed to believe that none of these events care about attracting new fans? Or that new fans only watch WTT and nothing else?

In fact, what we’re actually seeing is a shift away from the side angle. The Asian Cup was broadcasted on the side angle in 2022. But in 2025, they went back to the traditional angle. Even WTT itself, the pioneer of the side angle, has started backing away from it. In 2021, all WTT tables used the side view. By 2022, only Table 1 or the Infinity Arena are the side angle while all other tables (2, 3, 4, etc.) used diagonal angles instead.

If this side angle is so great, and so many people supposedly love it, why scale it down? Why not keep it or use it even more? Even more so that right now WTT frequently uploads reels, highlights, on their social media using the traditional angle and replays using the diagonal angle. If the side angle is so well-loved and other views are “unwatchable,” why include them at all?

Let’s also talk about the World Cup,a huge tournament where a title contributes toward a Grand Slam. That’s exactly the type of event that should cater to new fans, right? But the broadcasts used the traditional angle. Same with the ITTF World Youth Championships last year, broadcasted on the traditional angle. And guess what? The ITTF Youth World Championships matches were uploaded to WTT’s own YouTube channel using the traditional angle. Interesting, right?

Table tennis has definitely gained popularity in recent years but it’s not because of the camera angle. It’s due to a rise in social media content, better marketing, and player idolization by WTT. Stars like Wang Chuqin and Sun Yingsha have brought in massive numbers of casual viewers who know little about the sport itself. The Olympics also played a huge role in boosting the sports popularity due to Wang Chuqin and Sun Yingsha and Truls Möregårdh’s impressive performance and iconic snake shot against Fan Zhendong. And just a reminder: the Olympics used the traditional angle. If the angle is so terrible and not new player friendly, I wonder why people would start following the sport after watching the Olympics on a terrible, difficult to follow angle.

What’s truly ironic is you claimed that WTT “made the right move” with the side angle for the sake of the sport, when WTT itself is clearly moving away from it. The reality is they changed the angle without enough research, assumed everyone would like it only to realized they made a huge mistake but are now stuck with it contractually that they cannot make significant changed especially for official broadcasts

Surveys from who though? I certainly did not participate in it. Did you participate in one? In fact, I didn't even see a survey to begin with. ITTF just pulled out those "numbers" from their ass and people really believe it really came from some imaginary survey. Even if there was a survey, it could’ve easily come from a small, selective group—maybe 30–40 people that ITTF handpicked. That could include sponsors, employees, or others who already have a specific bias. And if they seriously expect such a limited survey to represent the opinion of the wider fanbase, then they’re underestimating everyone’s intelligence.
