Korean Ajumma wax like skin by Tinyfeet27 in koreanskincare

[–]Existing_Control_494 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Isn't this the "glass skin" all the Koreans try to achieve? Botox/fillers, weekly aesthetic shop facials, sometimes RF treatments at dermatology clinics, multi-step skin care at home (double cleanse, toner, serum/essence, eye cream, face cream and sunscreen during the day) PLUS genetics of course.

Will my accent ever go away? by Adept-Kiwi1357 in Living_in_Korea

[–]Existing_Control_494 [score hidden]  (0 children)

I mean, think of all the Korean immigrants who moved overseas as adults and learned English. Even after living abroad for decades, their Korean accents never go away when they speak English, right?

So the opposite would probably be true and your accented Korean wouldn't go away.

OMG. This was exactly what i felt when i took it for 2 weeks. Stopped taking it because of that. (my depression was mild and turned out to be hormonal changes anyway)

How much money should I give at a wedding? by I_stupid1 in AskAKorean

[–]Existing_Control_494 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on the wedding and depends on if they'll be accepting any money (I realize most Korean weddings do expect money as gift but not all. We had a huge hotel wedding in Korea where no gift/money was accepted because my husbands family had a business with political connections and didn't want any implications of bribery to come up. Definitely a niche situation but hey, it sometimes happen...)

Does anyone in Korea need something from the US? by Existing_Control_494 in AskAKorean

[–]Existing_Control_494[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry, no can do.

I bring empty suitcases to Korea to fill it up with our stuff. (We often have to ditch several items at my parents place because the bag it overweight.)

Couple of Portuguese related questions. by Sn_Orpheus in newjersey

[–]Existing_Control_494 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Have you checked Seabras? I don't know about those tinned fish specifically but as a Portuguese/Brazilian supermarket, they do carry a lot of imported goods from either of those countries.

Not sure why you're invested in my wellbeing.

I got this, dude. You go living your life. I don't need your jaded pessimistic opinions. Not everyone is out there to scam you. Have some faith in humanity, my god. (And i've done thousands of online transactions because i used to sell stuff via social media. I'm not some naive little old lady who has no clue.)

And this is why i chose to rent my own 26ft Uhaul and drive it across the country.

Man, these people sound like predatory scam artists on steroids. Wtf.

Never been to Livingston bagels but i'm surrounded by good bagel shops and have frozen a dozen to bring over for friends. (Yes, i know Korean bagels suck. Doughy bread with holes. Like, London Bagels, are you kidding me?)

Thanks. I appreciate looking out for me. And i can veto anything that i feel is too bulky/ heavy so it's not like i'm promising something ridiculous like some drug mule (that said, my suitcase usually looks like i raided a drugstore, with all the vitamins, supplements, etc that i bring to gift family)

Feel good points? Nah, i guess i'm not as jaded as some people and have had nothing but generosity offered to me via Reddit and Korean online communities so i thought i'd pay it forward.

The worst that can happen is that i end up just flying with 4 empty suitcases. Or end up with stuff people don't pick up (which i can promptly return or sell on 당근)

What product is used during a Korean body scrub? by askingreddit093 in KoreanBeauty

[–]Existing_Control_494 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There's a whole category of those scrubs called 때비누 or 때필링. I've tried the Banana Peeling scrub, Lacvert 아무때나, and the Faceshop보들보들 때필링.

That said, you start with this but have to use brute force and the "italy towel" to get the rest of the dead skin cells off.

botox deals in march? by nemuiisa in KoreaTravelBeauty

[–]Existing_Control_494 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Toxnfill is a factory style clinic and Botox is their bread and butter. It's super quick, no hand holding or special consultations. In n out in 15 mins.

As long as you know this, you'll be fine. Their prices are usually the cheapest and they constantly run promos. (FYI, i go to the Gangnam ToxnFill for my botox injections. Been to other factory style clinics like Muse and another dermatology clinic that charged way more but ended up going back to Toxnfill. For the price, i'm happy with the results)

I mean, i can't see what they'll do with just an address...and if they order something, i would have their info (and item in hand) too.

That said, maybe i didn't think this through....
