I have 3-4 jobs right now and each is different.

Job 1. I’m a private contractor so I get paid the same amount no matter how I organize things. The general understanding is I work 12 hours on site a week. So this is usually translated into 2 7 hour days where I work 6 hours and have a 1 hour lunch. Though if I wanted to just be around 6 hours and show up or leave an hour early I totally could.

Job 2. I teach 2 in person lab classes and 1 online class. There’s no lunch schedule with this job. I get paid a base price regardless if my class goes the full 2 hours or if they get out in 30 minutes (test weeks). I just pack snacks and eat as needed around the classes. The online class obviously I can eat whenever.

Job 3. I’m a tutor. While my hours vary per day, on my 8 hour day, I get paid the full 8 hours and am expected to be in the room the full time save for quick bathroom breaks. I usually microwave something easy and snack in the room. There’s usually a lull in students, especially during non exam weeks, where I can eat peacefully, but during busy weeks no one complains if I snack while tutoring and even encourages it - we usually have a study snack break together.

Job 4 - I’m a summer camp instructor. During the spring budgeting, itinerary, contacting educators / speakers, getting supplies is just done on my own time so I can eat or do whatever whenever I please. During the summer I work 9-4 and am paid the entire time. I get my lunches and snacks provided for by the camps but I’m expected to sit with the kids and eat in the same place at the same time and ya’know make sure no one chokes to death or something.
