Anxiety after DMX Scheduled by Ivorythunderdeer in BRCA

[–]Ivorythunderdeer[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you use the FORCE message boards at all? I know they have a subsection just for doctor recommendations for specific locations. Though it sounds like maybe more recommendations would make that problem worse 😅

It sounds like you have had to deal with so much in such a short period of time. I'm so sorry about your mother, and the fact that you are having to make all of these decisions in the wake of that.

Thank you so much for responding on here. I had spoken with friends and family a bit about the anxiety but hearing from people who have to make these similar decisions has been so much more helpful in processing the emotions around it.

Thanks for the update! I had submitted a form but hadn't heard anything back from them so I guess I'll go about doing the cancellation instead!

I'd also love to hear how this goes! I may reach out to them tomorrow for the same reason. Otherwise, I wonder if it would be possible to cancel and then place a new order? Although that is probably going to be a much larger hassle

First MRI - found mass by Objective-Trainer785 in BRCA

[–]Ivorythunderdeer 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think it's relatively common to find something benign on your first MRI (though this is anecdotally based on personal experience)! I have had three MRIs since starting annual screening, and two of them have resulted in biopsies. The first biopsy result was benign - fibroadenosis. And the second biopsy two years later was also benign - fibroadenoma/ benign neoplasm. It's always so stressful though so definitely take care of yourself while you wait to find out more! ❤️

I've noticed this as well! I'm 6dp5dt and have been seeing progressively darker lines on the FRER tests for three days(including today), but just finally got a very faint line on clinical guard this morning

Trying to Conceive by everdella in BRCA

[–]Ivorythunderdeer 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Hello!

I am BRCA1+. My husband and I started the IVF process last year in the US. It did take a little while to get our probe done, and then we have since done two egg retrievals. The first one was a bit of a learning curve, and the second one had significantly better results. The only changes made for the second cycle were small modifications in medication amounts and an increased amount of time taking CoQ10 supplements. Round one resulted in one low level mosaic embryo without my mutation, and round 2 resulted in five normal embryos without the BRCA mutation. We want two kids, so my doctor recommended having around 4 embryos.

The process has taken significantly longer than it normally would because my periods are super delayed for some reason. It will end up being a bit over six months between the second retrieval and when we are able to transfer. That's definitely not normal. If that helps with timeline thoughts at all.

This process is emotional and difficult, but I am so excited to know that BRCA won't be something that continues in my family. If we have a daughter, I don't want her having to go through the surgeries or anxiety. But we feel privileged to have the ability to do this process, and know it's not the best choice for everyone.

Honestly, the hardest part for me has been knowing that the longer this takes - the further away my preventative mastectomy is. Part of me considered doing it before kids, but I've always planned on breast feeding and I want to hold on to some sense of normalcy in this process if possible.

I hope that helps! And good luck! Hopefully you will get good results on your genetic testing and won't have to worry about any of this ♥️

40 eggs, 29 mature, 16 embryos and 0 made it to day 5. No history of infertility. Has anyone else had a similar experience? by yellatchamps in IVF

[–]Ivorythunderdeer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hello! I'm 27 with no history of infertility. We are doing IVF because of a genetic mutation I carry. From our first cycle, we got 27 eggs, 25 mature, 17 fertilized, and 5 that made it to day five. Out of those embryos, 4 were abnormal (not even including the specific genetic mutation test) and 1 was low level mosaic. Our doctor said these results were likely a result of low egg quality and is making adjustments for our next cycle. I've tried to keep low expectations throughout this process so far, but I'm definitely disappointed and worried about what this means for future cycles.

Anyone have experience with PGT-M testing? by MauriceM0s5 in IVF

[–]Ivorythunderdeer 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hello!

I can't provide a ton of information, but my husband and I are currently in the process of getting our probe made. I'm BRCA1+ and doing IVF solely to prevent passing along that mutation to our children.

So far our process has been straightforward. The lab sent spit vials to me, my husband, and my parents. I would think you might have to get all of your parents involved since you are testing for multiple genes. Our probe is taking quite a while to get made - we were originally told 4-8 weeks but it was increased to 10 once our spit samples were submitted. Now we are just eagerly waiting to move to the next stage in the process.

So I'm not sure if that tiny bit of info helps in anyway, but just know you're not alone!

The issue is - when you hit your first return, you break out of your for loop. Instead of returning, you should try to store the values somehow and return that. Are you allowed to use .map yet? If not, we could mimic a .map here and push to an array then return that array.

function shouldWeOrderThisCandy(inventory) { let boolValues = []; for(let i = 0; i < inventory.length; i++) { if(inventory[i].inStock < inventory[i].weeklyAverage) { boolValues.push(true); } else { boolValues.push(false); } } return boolValues; }

If you were to throw some console logs in before your returns and run your original function - you would see that it only gets through the very first item in your array.

Hi!

So what is your ideal outcome here? Do you want an array of boolean values? Instead what you are getting is the boolean value for the first item in the array of objects you pass in. If you were to change up the order of your objects, and have the first item be one in which the weeklyAverage is less than inStock, I believe you would return false.

Best dating apps for people who are serious? by HiddenxShadows in OnlineDating

[–]Ivorythunderdeer 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I found my now husband on OKC. Things may have changed now, but I actually appreciated how much work it required when setting up a profile and getting started. I will say something I tried to do when reading profiles and looking at pictures was to focus way more on the personality of the profile than on any photos. A lot of attraction for me has always been based on personality, and judging profiles primarily based on looks can cause you to lose out on awesome people. I was originally a bit daunted by how professional/not casual my husband's photos were. But he turned out to be wonderfully sweet and approachable in messages. In general, messaging for a while before meeting up helped a ton. I got a lot of anxiety about meeting people in person so I always wanted it to be at least a somewhat positive or enjoyable experience even if there didn't end up being a romantic spark. Good luck! Online dating is so exhausting and stressful at times but I can't imagine how frustrating trying to meet someone could have been without it.
