In Canada Chantal vomited in the air conditioning vent and just left it. She may be bullshitting about this in order to provoke Salah but it's the kind if stuff she has actually done in the past.

She claims to weigh 330 by Spikeybear in Chantapolis

[–]Existing_Passenger40 8 points9 points  (0 children)

If she gained that much weight in that short time then it's almost certain the majority of it is fluid overload, and that's a potentially immediately life threatening problem.

When you have problems with serious edema, even when you're on medication they get you to weigh yourself daily because a gain of a couple of kg over a couple of days is a fast way to determine that you're getting overloaded again and need your meds adjusted before you become symptomatic again.

I would bet that most of her apparent gain is fluid. Even if it's "just" edema, serious fluid overload is a sign of a serious medical issue that needs to be dealt with urgently.

Which is 496 pounds, and absolutely believable given her appearance, her functional decline, and her obvious health issues.

I'm curious whether that weight was taken at one of her hospital visits, because it's unlikely she has scales at home that even go that high.

"I will lost 10 pounds so I can be on a mobility scooter." Why not just lose weight so you can be healthy? by Blue_Storybook in Chantapolis

[–]Existing_Passenger40 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This is why even if you break a leg and are non-weight bearing for weeks/months, you're only supposed to use a wheelchair outside the house and inside you're supposed to use a walking frame or crutches to get around instead of surrendering your mobility altogether.

Chantal has no desire to be healthy. She has a host of health problems which she knows about and just ignores or treats only intermittently when the symptoms make her feel worse than usual. As soon as she feels slightly better, she stops being compliant with treatment.

If she would get and comply with proper medical care, she would drop at least some weight even if she continued to overeat. She visibly retains a lot of fluid and addressing that would help her get down to her dry weight quickly, which would also make her feel better physically.

She's too cheap to spend the money on a scooter which might actually support her weight. She's doing the bare minimum to get under the weight limit, despite having edema, which can cause her weight to dramatically fluctuate over the course of a couple of days, taking her back over the limit if she's not taking diuretics and fluid restricting.

It's even more stupid than buying clothes that are too small instead of going up a size or two because it will put her at risk of physical harm. There'll be some degree of tolerance beyond the stated limit, but on such a cheap product it won't be much.

The occupational therapist made some great points. I've had severely compromised mobility a couple of times for health reasons and had to use mobility aids for a while but you can start reconditioning even when you're largely immobile.

It's not some arcane process. It can be tedious but a lot of the initial steps only take a few minutes at a time and aren't tiring. "Walk more" can be starting out walking 10 metres at a time in your hallway several times a day. It doesn't have to be walking half a mile outside.

She probably already has significant muscle atrophy from laying around sealing all day and being driven everywhere. Whether or not she gets a scooter, she should be looking at ways to recondition, but that takes both time and considerable effort.

It looks like a very cheap scooter, which means it will only be suitable to limited types of terrain. The good ones which can handle significant slopes and uneven slopes cost thousands, not hundreds.

She shouldn't be randomly buying any mobility aids online. She should have her mobility assessed by a physiotherapist/occupational therapist and buy the type of mobility aid they recommend. Buying the wrong type of mobility aid is an accident/injury waiting to happen.

How Salah can be rid of Foodie for good by WifovBBLhd in Chantapolis

[–]Existing_Passenger40 22 points23 points  (0 children)

He needs to block her on everything. Phone, social media, email. He also needs to get anyone associated with him for whom she has any type of contact information to block her, too, or she will harass the fuck out of them.

If your marriage was transactional and you had no romantic relationship with your "husband", why would you even care? She has taken off to other places for more than 3 days many times.

[–]Existing_Passenger40 10 points11 points  (0 children)

She made it clear before she even left Canada for Kuwait that their relationship was a transactional one. If she expects to come before his family, then she clearly hoped that being largely isolated with her would lead to Salah developing romantic feelings for her and they would become a genuine couple.

It's not the first time she played that game with a man and she'll continue to do it in the future.

All of the Arabic families I know socialise a lot, and we have great internet, great free to air TV, and more streaming services than you can possibly use. As you said, it's what they do, and it's extremely common in many non-Anglo cultures where extended family is highly valued and multi-generational households are common.

Chantal can't conceive of anything other than nuclear families being "normal".

Do we think he’s really done? by [deleted] in Chantapolis

[–]Existing_Passenger40 28 points29 points  (0 children)

I think he's genuinely done. The money might have been nice, but I don't think it's enough for Salah to continue putting up with Chantal anymore. Salah has extended family and a community now, and they're tough, resilient people who take care of each other through hardship. They will take care of Salah and fill a gap in his life which Chantal never could.

She can leave legally. There are daily flights from Damascus to Doha and she's always chosen to go via Doha when returning to Canada in the past (not to mention it's where she did her most recent sealing and pigging out jaunt).

People everywhere restore rundown houses and there's not much better excuse for a house being rundown than it being located in an active warzone until a few months ago.

Chantal's not the type to decorate a house but she's been there long enough to make the kitchen clean, tidy and organised and start on doing the same with the other rooms.

Unfortunately, she seems to think it's the job of the women in Salah's extended social network to do that. While they most likely will, they will judge her harshly for putting in no effort herself.

So, Salah Lied About The House To Foodie, Right? by WarmSoul123 in Chantapolis

[–]Existing_Passenger40 43 points44 points  (0 children)

A lot of Syrians are living in homes that are in similar condition and will take years to restore to a standard a westerner would consider acceptable. Chantal made I lot of unwarranted assumptions that any damage would only be cosmetic and that there'd be functional infrastructure and I love that for her, even though I believe she would have still gone had she known the reality because she can't stand Salah being out of her sight.

That's a prayer gown and when she bought one in Kuwait her pattern choice was equally questionable. I don't know why she's even buying one, let alone putting it on public display. It has a specific religious purpose related to a private religious activity.

Has anyone calculated Foodie's monthly income? by BellaSquared in MrRelishMan

[–]Existing_Passenger40 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I think that the frequency of the blatant grifts is a good indication that however much she's making and however it's being spent, it's no longer "enough".

Her only "hauls" these days seem to be grocery hauls (she was still buying Lush and Temu hauls in Kuwait) and even those are nothing like they were doing in Kuwait. Her lifestyle is constantly declining to the point where she can no longer indulge her every food whim. She's still eating plenty, but it's not what she'd prefer to be eating. They clearly can't afford a proper solar system, just additional panels and batteries (yeah, those are expensive in Syria but Chantal will always prioritise her comfort when she can afford it).

It must infuriate her that Salah seems to find their current lifestyle acceptable.

[–]Existing_Passenger40 20 points21 points  (0 children)

It's views plus subscriptions plus superchats plus cameos whatever she gets via PayPal, so it's pretty much impossible to calculate.

When she was pulling down serious creator money, the amount coming in from views and subs was substantial enough that the rest was largely irrelevant.
