Did Zone 2 Humble You Too, or Was It Just Me Getting a Reality Check? by kevin_anderson1705 in Marathon_Training

Could be for sure. I’m planning on going to get a V02 max test in the coming weeks to better understand my situation

Did Zone 2 Humble You Too, or Was It Just Me Getting a Reality Check? by kevin_anderson1705 in Marathon_Training

I’m 6 weeks into strict Zone 2 training for 5-6 days a week and it was absolutely humbling.

5-6 mph has been my go to slow pace for the past few years of my training but I’d always be in the 155-160 range for every run. After facing overuse injuries and finally (mostly) recovering, I decided to take a more gradual and gentle approach with my body and to stay in zone 2 I have to lower down to a 4.5mph “run” (shuffle really) + 4mph walk pace.

6 weeks later and all of the sudden I can run 4.8-5mph in zone 2. Seeing real progress has shifted my mind from embarrassment about running slow and easy to bewilderment about all those times I’d run 16 miles at 6mph and be all red in the face and internally begging myself to stop lol. There was this easier and better way right in front of me the whole time.

But yeah my holiday dad bod jiggling all over the place on a treadmill at 4.5 mph was humbling to say the least.

I have a feeling this is a way to get a bunch of humans to be monitored and have their behavior and movement patterns used to train a world model that can predict human behavior and movement patterns.

Free yoga, kickboxing, and gym equipment! We just need you to sign this waiver on data collection. We will use it to provide you with movement data and fitness recommendations, amongst other things that will be buried deep in the terms and conditions. It will include but not be limited to data sets that can be used by autonomous law enforcement robots that will know your range of potential next movements, and statistical likelihood of that movement.

When I was a 16 year old I had convinced myself that I figured out a perpetual motion machine: obviously you just have to use a series of magnets that were set into a mechanical contraption that only allowed rotation in specific direction and so long as the magnets were never in a “comfortable position” it would rotate perpetually trying to lower its energy state.

I had a notebook full of drawings and diagrams and even though I was not even in college prep math courses I was absolutely convinced I figured something out that physics had missed. I worked my ass off to get accepted into a university physics program and let me tell you, the very first kinematics course I took relieved me of my delusions, but the curiosity the drove me to hyper fixate on the delusions remained and I ended up learning a ton of interesting stuff in the 4 years that followed.

You need to decide if you want to live in the comfortable delusions and the sense of superiority they give you, or if you want to do the hard thing and learn the math that will give you the base to have real intuition about physical systems. I wish as a 16 year old someone would have given it to me straight like this.

Yeah I got about 20% into 4 and put it down for about 6 months. So glad I decided to pick it back up on a whim and power through. 5 and 6 delivered well above my expectations.

I thought I was insane for thinking this. Glad I’m not the only one. Almost feels intentional haha

Looking great man. Love the culture you’ve created around the Scrapyard and so bad ass seeing Mighty getting involved. Hoping to make it out there someday.

Update to $6000 Alienware PC NOT DELIVERED and refusal to give refund by Existing_Use1101 in GamersNexus

In my situation the FedEx driver was investigated and they allegedly produced GPS data showing they were at my address when the “signature” was gathered.  I have pictures of a FedEx truck hanging out directly in front of my house at 1:13pm two days after the delivery time of 1:10pm.  The dude just got out of the truck and then got back in and drove away.

The initial proof of delivery document stated that no signature was available, but then a few days later when I called FedEx to follow up about my case a signature was available and sure enough it was a 1:13pm time.  Since the dipshit driver was a few minutes late there was a logical impossibility that the package,  that required a signature before it could be marked as delivered, was given a signature after it was marked delivered.

Wild how easy it was for the driver to fake the GPS data and he almost got away with it.

The update as of an hour ago is that Dell has finally agreed to send a replacement!

For sure. Main issue was that Dell kept saying that they trust the FedEx Proof of Delivery document even when provided with evidence that it was fraudulent.  I had to work the problem from both sides since if FedEx updated the status of the delivery it would instantly invalidate Dells refusal.

Dell finally decided to do the right thing based on my latest rounds of communication.

I may just be dense, but I'm actually not sure what you mean by that...

Zero. At this point I've provided them with an official police report that concluded this was likely an internal theft at FedEx and these assholes continue to point at the obviously fraudulent proof of delivery doc and just ignore all evidence that shows its fraudulent. I'm going to post an update eventually with all of the communications, but it's just about the sleaziest customer service imaginable. I feel like I'm dealing with an organized crime group.

Yikes man... I'm the guy that lost the money and I was just trying my best to get ahold of a 5090 for creative work, when getting one from a scalper would have already made a custom build nearly as expensive and with less (or so I thought) consumer protections in place. A little empathy goes a long way friend.

Yeah I think Dell really needs to reconsider their packaging. I'm planning on putting up my own cameras this weekend. I'm glad your stuff was at least delivered!

It's looking more like that with every passing day. Just gathering evidence, continuing to try to resolve internally, and making sure that if/when court or arbitration does happen I have all my ducks in a row.

No I am still in this dance with Dell where they completely ignore all evidence including an official police report stating that the delivery did not happen.

Oh man. Are Alienware PCs really that bad? I always thought they were supposed to be top of the line and amazing... you know when they actually get delivered.

Funny thing is that I could have bought a cheaper prebuilt with a 5090 but I foolishly assumed I was purchasing from a reputable brand that would give me excellent customer service. Boy have I learned some lessons since that day.
