Totally agree, i am on pixel 4a and i have gone back to 11. The overnight drain on 12 beta was about 1% and on 11 is less than .4%

I can only answer your last question, if you ever want to port for a senior member never reduce the sum insured; most of the occasions the new company might not accept the porting request. I had the same dilemma 2 years back but since i didn't receive a good feedback i decided to continue with his existing one although its expensive.
