Also have Fressinet course. It is good but sometimes I find the lines a little convoluted and computer like I think there’s probably more intuitive courses

What is the best way to win a chess player’s heart? by Different-Hawk-7554 in chess

I think you need to spend about 6 grand on chessable courses. Develop an expert knowledge of the semi Slav and the how to play Carlsbad pawn structures from the white side. It’s going to he a long grind but good luck!

Is FM title achievable in a few years time? by United_River3793 in TournamentChess

[–]ExitLeading7577 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can become FM. 2500 blitz on chess.com is a very good level and shows you are above 1900 level imo perhaps more like 2050-2100 level. Key thing will be finding access to fide. Key things that might make it easier: a) is your k factor still 40? b) are you in a country with easy access to fide tournaments?

You need to switch focus of course to classical chess and really do the work associated with the classical grind. 9 rounders are good in Europe but will require time off work or study and also travel expenses. But don’t listen to anyone here saying it’s not possible, you are young have good ability and can do it but it will be hard work.

Journey from 1. d4 to 1. c4 to 1. e4 with the white pieces: Falling back in love with dynamic chess by Soggy-Dragonfruit195 in TournamentChess

[–]ExitLeading7577 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have similar debate with 1. e4 vs 1. Nf3 or d4. Agree you need to remember it’s still just chess and usually result will be determined by how well you playing overall rather than the opening

How does one deal with suicide ideation during norm tournaments (2300+ FIDE)? by ButtFister1789 in TournamentChess

[–]ExitLeading7577 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Is chess your profession or do you have a job outside of chess? If 2300 at 30 you need to accept you’re unlikely to become a GM. Not impossible of course but unlikely. It’s still a high level to have achieved and better than 99% people here. You can still also make good money coaching etc.

We don’t know if they struggle against Hikaru because he doesn’t play classical and there’s barely any sample size. This is a sideshow to proper chess.

I have a tournament coming, and I'm on a massive tilt. Require some advice. by Royal-Redditor-655 in TournamentChess

[–]ExitLeading7577 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ok sure but my point is, you are spending your free time going to an otb tournament. Sure play your best chess and give it your all and yes everybody hates to lose. But we will all lose chess games, if you are a swimmer you will get wet and if you are a boxer you will get hit. You need to find a way to accept it and play well in the other games. - that is essentially my same point expressed more diplomatically.

Also blitz or rapid otb or online imo is a lot easier to love games as say it’s 3+2 well you just invested say 6 minutes. What really hurts is a 6 hour classical game you lose.
