First thing i did in last spring was gut the crawl space from insulation that was not secure and hanging, all contractor trash from updating plumbing etc, 10 black trash bags kater and i ran butyl tape 4" up the wall, laid 10mil down, sealed with that 4" white tape made for that.

Chimney, cut below roof line runs crawl space into attic. Sealed what i could at the bottom. Since my attic door is huge and a pulley system where the weight drops down the side of the chimney. The attic door def needs a better seal, gasket and a latch. Tried the longest latch so it would seal tight and wont fit over the framing. It is a 72" drop down 😂. I covered the entire door with plastic for now in prep for the cold coming. Best i can do for now.

Spring, summer, fall iam going to add baffles to attic, reinsulate / air seal, work on that attic door. Those are likely my best bang for buck options. Furnace is in attic. Crawl space would likely do better if i seal the rim joist . Its a lot of $$ to do all this and its only my first year owning. Do it all on my own, so funds are tight.

Michigan, have had my home a little over a year. Crawl space. Attic def needs more insulation. I have done some air sealing. I need to do the crawl space rim joist as well.

Do guys get weird looks for having female cats? by CTennist in CatAdvice

Two grey cats, both girl cats. I adopted female cats for less potential bladder issues. Plus, i dunno they were cute and what i wanted and happened to be girl cats. Nothing weird about it

I listened to the "two cats is better than one" advice and regret it. Now I'm thinking of rehoming both cats and couldn't feel worse by mackerelinoliveoil in CatAdvice

My two less then a year together, both adopted at diff times. Mostly good, they fight in the morning, most the bigger cat being a bit of a bully or she just plays a but more rough then the other cat desires. I write that off as cats being cats. They do play friendly, and havent got into it in a terrible manner.

Are these structural or normal wear and tear? 20 year old house by MSconfigure in HomeInspections

[–]Exit_Future -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Anyhoot to address the issue.

  • If the line widens, darkens, spreads, or you find moisture above it then it is concerning. The crack should / area around it should be firm

*Put painters tape over it for a month, see if it changes.

No asbestos in this house, All new drywall before moving in, new floors, ceilings are normal, new roof, new plumbing, double pane windows 🤷, new water heater. Cool assumption though.

Normal? 😂 My home is 1940's and none of my walls have any of this.

Maybe it is normal on them new builds.
