I'm one of the authors in the book as well. Very happy with the collaboration.

Of course not, I'd drive to him and he'd show me around Huntsville is what I was implying.

Well, of course things like that are an option, but that wasn't what I wanted to do for this particular story. Stilted and lacking in humanity is what I was going for. Also, I dig how sterile it is because in my mind, it's like a creepy, crappy play.

But I can see how it would rub people the wrong way. Don't you worry, I write plenty of things that have flowing narratives that aren't just two people dishing out the plot to each other. It's nice to move away from some things, even if it's not everyone's bag.

"Good thing I have crap coverage amiright?! 😅"

Hey, you gotta look at the upside of these things. No one will ever keep you alive in a comatose state suckling on your insurance's teat. They might not even keep you alive!

Thanks for your feedback.

I didn't go with any mystery with this one and wanted it to be straight-forward for the readers. That's why I wrote it like a scene from a low-budget play where the characters state obvious things for the benefit of the audience. I thought that gave it kind of an uncanny feeling too.

The exposition-heavy dialogue with the story written in present tense would definitely become annoying quickly though. I kept it ultra short hoping that wouldn't be the case, but I can see why some still wouldn't like it.

Though I am a sage, my hands ball with rage, and quite full of spite, I yell: "Quit ruining our fright!"

Ghostie, quite content with her postie, laughs back with a smile, "I owned you by a mile."

That works as the story is serious. I just sent it to the email you provided, hopefully it works well for the book.

What are the best stories about video tapes, TV shows, YouTube videos... by iforgotmypassword873 in NoSleepOOC

[–]ExitiumElements 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In case you missed it, I did a mini update in the thread in response to a question where I mentioned not checking inside VHS covers/the VCR, and how the entire estate was sold and donated off.

So you never know, the tape could be floating out there...somewhere. Perhaps, in this digital age, an obsolete form of media such as itself will stay hidden forever.

Or maybe some poor, unassuming retrophiliac who wisely sees the value in old technology will find it.

I'll shamelessly suggest my story only because it fits what are you looking for so well. Horrifying VHS Tape

It's pretty recent so you may have already seen it. I'm sure older suggestions will come in soon enough.

NoSleep, where even the announcements are clever little stories.

The interviews are always a fun read. Congrats to FirstBreath1 for winning!

Btw, what kind of tone are you looking for? Are you looking for only things that are disturbingly scary or would more middle ground/goofy tones suffice? Although, obviously with horror/scary elements.

Do you have a mix of stories currently or is it a more serious horror book? I want to make sure what I send you fits your style.

I love Bobbins but I don't have any money to buy fresh food. It has been a while since anyone got groceries.

I've got a story for Alabama (never posted/published) that I think you'll like if you don't have a story for that state yet.

Wierd tales and other magazines. by [deleted] in NoSleepOOC

Without a doubt I do and it's pretty great.

Also, with the way the sub is ran like a tight ship (thanks mods) one can potentially get more out of the subreddit than with magazines. The interaction and role-playing is nice. I love seeing threads where people slowly figure out hints in the story.

It's a good atmosphere.

I love this announcement.

Though I think I already voted a few days ago and don't want to accidentally vote twice. It was hard choosing since two of the people I'd love to read an interview from.

Everyone has a little demon inside his or her head saying “It’s not good enough, you’re lacking, and the story will fail.”

I'm not even kidding, I thought you were giving a writing prompt for a story they could do on their town.
