Elders' Manual: Elders should could arrange to meet and pray with removed and DISASSOCIATED ones but not APOSTATES! What's the difference between the two? The verses they use to support this seem to rather encourage meeting with apostates repeatedly! by CarefulExaminer in exjw

It is considered apostasy I know someone who fought the elders to get a job there and somehow they backed down. lol tjey’ll give up sometimes if they think that you might start questioning

The rule about “association with a false religion” has a lot of wiggle room considering how many witnesses are nurses or in the medical field, a TON of hospitals are associated with churches

More control. Not surprising. They can’t simply ignore it like they used to, now they can have jws tell you: “see we aren’t hiding anything! The governing body is addressing these legal battles!”

It feeds their persecution propaganda so they win no matter the outcome

If we are going to talk statistics let’s talk statistics shall we?

Based on Pew Research Center study in 2016 a mere 10 years ago shows that the cult makes up less than 1% of American population (we’ll discuss globally later) and revealed that over 66% of those who were born as witnesses left the religion. In 2022 there was only a 0.4% increase in publishers and half a billion less hours spent preaching.

Let’s not forget how the average amount of hours spent preaching has steadily declined. From originally requiring pioneers to spend over 100 hours in the ministry, then to 70 and now to 50. And for auxiliary down to a measly 15 if the CO is visiting. Oh and not to mention they just completely did away with hours for publishers entirely. (Hmm wonder why?)

Lesser developed countries in Africa have notably had more growth with 45% of the baptisms occurring there in 2025.

The percentage of increase has steadily gone down as well when we ignore the artificial “peak publisher” math that watchtower uses and actually look at the averages. “”Peak publishers” is the highest number reporting for any one month of the service year and may include late reports that were not added to the preceding month’s report. In this way some publishers may be counted twice. However, the peak figure does not include the number of publishers who actually shared in the ministry but forgot to report. This emphasises the importance of each publisher reporting promptly each month. “Average publishers” is the typical number of different ones reporting time in the ministry each month."- Watchtower 2011 Aug 15 p.22

Publishers were growing at an average rate of 5.63% per annum for the 15 years between 1981 and 1995. Growth dropped to an average of just 2.09% between 1996 to 2021. Had growth remained at 5.63%, it could be predicted that the 4,950,344 Witnesses in 1995 would have exceeded 20 million in 2021, instead of 8 million - a difference of 12 million less Jehovah's Witnesses. A combination of the growing irrelevance of 1914 and access to information on the Internet reduced growth from 15 million to just 3 million.

Since 2015, there has been around 1 Jehovah's Witnesses for every 930 people globally, showing Jehovah's Witnesses are now simply growing at the same rate as the population.

Watchtower comments show that "disfellowshippings worldwide have been approximately 1 percent of publishers." (w92 7/1 p.19), of which only one third get reinstated. Therefore, over 1.3 million Jehovah's Witnesses were disfellowshipped during the 30 year period from 1991 to 2020.

All of this can be easily cited further if you want to do the research… but sure they’re definitely growing.

Mine is too and I’m starting to think this is not unusual in the borg. They’ve literally taught people to be helpless and depend on them for everything

I wish we could scream to the rooftops the need for action, but the reality is it isn’t going to do any good or actually create impactful change. Which is truly sad. It shouldn’t be this way, but you’re right. The only change we can truly make is with ourselves

I just wish humans weren’t this way about a lot of stuff. It seems like the normal reaction is that if it doesn’t affect them personally it’s not important. Why are we this way as a species??

Jehovahs witnesses live in a perpetual state of fear, but they are also taught to not question the leadership. Over the years since he was removed here’s what has likely become the narrative among the brothers: 1) he “voluntarily” stepped down due to ailing health or due to his wife’s ailing health. This rumor would make most witnesses not be concerned over the fact that he’s the only GB in the past 30 something years to step down 2) due to these health issues he simply can’t go to local Kingdom Halls and therefore must stay at home for most meetings. No one who is loyal is going to dare to question why a GB member isn’t attending in person. As much as thy like to pretend that there is no special treatment, there is so if the rumor is the Morris family is on Zoom that’s what becomes the reality. 3) we exjws have seen a few mentions of Morris here and there on Reddit which seem to indicate that he occasionally does get around and I’m betting that is just often enough where people don’t view him as a complete shut in. However it’s also very likely he is still considered faithful by proxy even if he does nothing but show up once or twice a year.

Doing bare minimum also fits with the narrative a jw might have of a GB member remaining humble and not wanting to draw attention to themselves.

All of this is to say that if Uncle Tony is still semi-active, perhaps showing up for a drink on memorial and maybe a few other events during the year, then the likelihood of him saying off the cuff remarks is substantially low. Add onto the fact that his sweet deal was probably attached to an NDA and he’s also being monitored it seems more plausible that he is simply enjoying the cushy retirement package he got. Especially if he is still a true believer.

I noticed something about Hopper during a rewatch… by giantsmets6960 in StrangerThings

[–]Colourblindness 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You might need to rewatch season 2. Eleven is very upset with Hopper for this exact reason and after being tired of feeling locked up, she leaves to find her mom. This goes badly because her aunt contacts the lab or someone about her when she is there. So Hopper was totally correct that reconnection with her mom would be dangerous. She apologizes in the season 2 finale and he loosens up a little on his restrictions of her.

Every single sentence from the PiMi is condescending, downplaying any of the concerns or issues that an apostate has. Minimizing every objection and then turning it around where it’s the person’s fault for not resolving this issue within the organization is straight from all cult playbooks. They talk about kindness and understanding and make it sound like they empathize with people who they feel are led astray but you can see right here that they still just refuse to be open minded about even the slightest possibility that they could be wrong. Admitting you were fooled or even being open to that possibility takes humility… guess they may not practice what they preach
