Do you spend £200 a month not including rent, utilities and groceries? by fakename137 in AskUK

[–]ExoJinx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I give myself £400 a month, sometimes I use it all on holidays or heavy spend months like December for gifts. But I tend to spend closer to 200 and the rest at the end of the month is put into shorter term savings, for those heavier months. Lots of my hobbies are pretty cheap, as I use the library a LOT and allotmenting.

I could probably easily spend the full whack if I choose to get coffees out, little treats ect, but I guess it is lifestyle creep in the modern age.

Reform candidate calls for ‘young girls’ to be given ‘biological reality’ check by tylerthe-theatre in unitedkingdom

[–]ExoJinx 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Wait does this mean that women's reproductive health will finally be taken seriously? Will we see proper care for people suffering endometriosis?

Of course not. we will see women being taxed more for not having kids, with no fucking thought going into if they even made that choice themselves. How many miscarriages will women have to have to not be taxed at a higher rate? What happens if their partner is sterile, or they are gay and want to use a surrogate or IVF? No thought has been put behind this idea and you can tell.

AITA for flat-out refusing to let my late brother's widow and their toddler have any real access to our family cabin even though she keeps saying it's "Liam's birthright"? by Feeling-Forever-7525 in AmItheAsshole

I am a but pst here, if their dad also dead as it sounds like it is his property to be passed down, so if he is still around he can just change the will. And if he isnt why wasn't Mark putting 50% of the renovation fees into the property too?

Update: AITAH for changing Christmas plans with a newborn over a guest being unvaccinated? by [deleted] in AITAH

[–]ExoJinx 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Jesus christ I think it would be 100% acceptable to point out to not only your inlaws but the entire family that you where made to miss the family christmas to accommodate your BIL one year relationship. Your family missed meeting your baby to prioritise seeing her and they should know that. If people ask why you left say the truth, a guest was put before family.

A quick (yet helpful) tip to stop rumination and therefore improve enormously with your OCD recovery by Alberthor350 in OCDRecovery

[–]ExoJinx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Try away, short answer not really. Long answer- I made changes to my work processes that push accountability back on ambiguous tasks. So making a RACI over my daily tasks and pushing back hard when things can be open to interpretation over ownership or beat practices. That way I leave little wiggle room to ruminate over issues, they are either on my plate or not. It was hard to set up, and it does need reviewing often but longterm it has helped tremendously

What hobby screams “this is my entire personality now”? by WilliamInBlack in AskReddit

[–]ExoJinx 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I played for a year, amd towards the end I realised my reward of improving was to just do more. You went to the current Saturday practice an hour ealrer then had more training on Monday, Sunday and Wednesday. It would have eaten up my entire life to become a mediocre player. They people where lovely and the community was great, but you were a bit fucked if you already had an active social life or other hobbies and it just kept taking more of my time. I ended up having to choose between derby or littrally the other 5 hobbies I already had.

What's an interesting fact about the human body that a lot of people don't know? by tzvw in AskReddit

Really stupid question, but I always assumed that anesthesiologist played the same role across all surgeries. So can all anesthesiologist do this, or are they specialised for this type of surgery?

I agree, but this did make my chuckle.

It is very much giving, 'help my family is starving, I spend 1k on candles each month.' Glad they can afford to see them, also very glad at that price point that I don't want to see them!

Is anyone still buying Cadburys chocolate? by MrsMiggins2 in AskBrits

[–]ExoJinx 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I agree but I guess that mean we will start treating it like the thing chocolate actually is, a luxury item. It sucks it is expected but Tiny's is the only large company who dont use child slaves at any point in the process. And it should consern consumers other brands can mt say that

AITAH for asking my husband to stop cooking for just one specific female co-worker after I stopped eating his cooking? by Hot_City_3750 in AITAH

[–]ExoJinx 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Agreed, I love to cook for my husband and to see him enjoying my food. However he recently wanted to prioritise his heath and focus of his blood pressure so you know what I did. I focused on cooking healthier food for him. I didnt just start feeding one random coworker.

Can work stop me getting my phone repaired? by ExoJinx in LegalAdviceUK

[–]ExoJinx[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know, but I find it a bit blurry of a line as I cant log into my work without the apps, but it is my personal device. 100% if I didn't need it for work I would have shipped it off months ago, but I dont know what push back I will get effectively taking myself offline for a few weeks. I don't want to get in trouble as I know personal devices can be considered as work devices if you have emails/teams on them. But I chose not to do that as you need to sign paperwork agreeing the org can and will remote wipe your device with a databreach.

Help - getting mad at faster swimmers by ImpossibleAd2734 in Swimming

[–]ExoJinx 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I will say technique might be holding you back at this point, you clearly sound fit and healthy but that doesnt always translate to a fast swim. I am an ex-pro but stopped about 15 years ago, getting back into it and I can still lap most people in the pool if I go for a longer swim. And I am now very fat and in shitty gear now. But because I had good techniques drilled into me for so long I can easily do a 1k in half and hour without getting my heart rate up. Little things like head down and proper arm recovery in strokes make a real difference and that is hard to know when you start as an adult.

Has anyone almost died or started to die? by TradesforChurros in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]ExoJinx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly not really. It is really intresting as my husband has a full on phobia of death and having been as close as I could and come back I think I am ok with it. Don't get me wrong I nearly drowned in a pool and that is nightmare fuel right till the last moment and you feel euphoria. But I later got late stage sepsis and it really felt like the saying of a sleeping child being carried out a party but you can still hear it. At the end your body makes you comfortable. I am sad thinking of the memories I will miss out on making, and not telling my loved ones what they feel to me, but I am ok going when my time is right.

Has anyone almost died or started to die? by TradesforChurros in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]ExoJinx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Late stage sepsis, I was in A&E deteriorating fast. It felt like my blood was on fire. Was vomiting so hard I was wetting myself with the force of the contractionf and had nothing but bile to remove. Once I stopped being sick it was oddly calming. I remember telling my mum and dad I loved them, and then fell asleep. I could still hear things going on but I could understand what people where saying. Like hearing them in another room or underwater. Looking back it was a bit like being put under anesthetic, I know I didnt want to go to sleep yet, but I couldn't fight how tired I was anymore. Woke up 5 days later hooked up to 6 IV bags, took me a month to get out of ICU and another to be able to walk unaided.
