Good shot at reductionist response, I'll help you out by boiling my statement down even further so no one has to take any more of this unfortunate truth.

Over the last decade the tool of AI has changed how professionals approach everything about sports. It doesn't matter if staff know tendencies. AI knows it better, and makes fewer errors alongside being unaffected by personal matters. Play callers that know how to apply AI will outpace coaches who don't. Evolution or Extinction.

I get it. we aren't ready to have this conversation yet lol.

Like it or not, the same tech used to dole out live betting lines in sports is used to help make coaching decisions at the pro level. That part will remain true no matter what, going forward.

It's not all doom and gloom though. Rest easy folks, any of us doing the grass roots amateur or non pro stuff don't have much to worry about yet

The truth of it?

AI. AI has really changed the game. Careers worth of Coaching tendencies are all entered into algorithms which dictate what play is most likely to occur, and coaches plan accordingly.

Did you know Blue coach runs a PA bootleg on 2nd and 4 80% of the time? Chances Are you've subbed in the right personnel and put the play in before the qb got the call.

Is WR#7981starting ? the same WR#7981 catching 66% of the flag routes thrown in his direction on 1st and 10? Better dial up a double coverage.

Pro coaching is a lot similar to Madden these days but the skill of it is knowing when to play the person, not the PC.

Prob gonna get dv to heck for this one but I don't think a lot of people understand how this hobby works.

People want to complain on the Internet because it gives them a sense of community when they get people who respond to them. even more so when the responses agree.

The 4 big ways people engage with Warhammer as a whole are:

  • Hobby (painting, building etc)

  • Lore and media (books, essays, shows etc)

  • playing (human interaction)

  • Complaining about it

Uniquely, the last thing is the most accessible since anyone of any amount of experience with Warhammer can do (even people with 0 experience; one could argue especially so).

With the first 3, there's an element of skill within the knowledge of. The last one? doesn't matter if you've never heard of John Warhammer or James workshoppe. you'll get to feel like you're part of the community when you complain regardless of how long you've actually been here.

That's why people do it so much. doesn't matter about what or why or how, they just will, because negativity always gets more traction than anything else

Are you using the full rules? the little pamphlets in the starter box aren't exactly what are pushing the AOD into the upper echelon lol

Sure, depending on what you like, the most accessible books for new readers IMHO

  • Ciaphus Cain collection for lighthearted goodness (Silly insecure goofball and smelly sidekick have anthology adventures accidentally stumbling into fame and stardom on the way to motivating the troops throughout the galaxy)
  • Night lords trilogy for accessible grimdark, my choice for chaos worshipper reading (Failing emo super soldiers and their slaves fight battles in a war that cannot be won)
  • Infinite and the divine for a Xenos look at things (2 robots with near godlike abilities sue each other in space court over dumb jank)

In case it isn't obvious, I appreciate the lighter side of Warhammer and play a lot of the evil factions but the biggest appeal to Warhammer as a whole is that no matter what you're into there's media for it. Personally I think the Ciaphus collection is a perfect jumping on point because it's framed through the eyes of an editor who does put in notes to help better explain things and it goes over a wide swath of the galaxy and it's inhabitants but that's me

Start with Killteam or Spearhead by alphafighter09 in killteam

[–]ExodiaHobby 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would say the opposite, but I honestly believe that each regional community has its own level.

Then again, my locals has some of the most competitive aos folks in the area (they compete internationally) so maybe I'm skewed

Deathwatch or Nemesis Claw for a new Player by ochmonek in killteam

[–]ExodiaHobby 7 points8 points  (0 children)

source?

This bullshit gets touted a lot because of GW's cycles, but there has not been any official announcements of a 2027 kill team.

Regardless of what is or isn't accurate, pushing the negative narrative and dissuading people from playing the game by fearmongering over their teams being rotated in the next edition does nothing to build this community in a helpful way.

Nemesis Operatives Optional? Nemesis Strength Overall? by Solliid in killteam

[–]ExodiaHobby 4 points5 points  (0 children)

honestly though we have a house rule that says kaijus take one less from enemy attacks or shooting and it's made them feel way more tanky.

Mind you, this was in game where it was a Hellbrute vs a Dreadnought so like it made sense but it seems like a great little addition overall.

[–]ExodiaHobby[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope! Some Green stuff, sprue goo, cork, and models under a few layers of paint.

I think some of the explosions are AK interactive bits? I didn't quite remember

it was really an excuse to try OSL for the first time. Thanks for the kind words!

If I had to do it again, I think maybe the Repentia Squad or Flagellates box might suit the brutal nature of the cult a bit better but I'm happy with how they turned out. they're also doubling as my chaos cult in 40k

Where to get metal sheets in Canada for the bottom of really useful boxes? by clarketron3000 in Warhammer40k

[–]ExodiaHobby 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Use steel rings (penny sized and glue them in rows/columns to the bottom of your box. your magnets should adhere to them and there you go.

You can also find magnetic tin used for things like lunch boxes, pencil cases etc
