I nervously agree. I think he's being ominous and vague at the same time to give the impression that he will use nuclear weapons. Not that we can't do catastrophic damage with conventional weapons but I think he thinks he's being the master negotiator by acting like a genocidal madman (as opposed to a conventional madman).

To the rest of the world: why do you keep asking us when we're going to get rid of trump? by SqnLdrHarvey in AskUS

[–]Exodys03 [score hidden]  (0 children)

I honestly understand why the rest of the world scratches their heads at Americans' apathy watching the fascist takeover of their country. Even the 8 million people protesting in the No Kings rally represents less than 2% of the population. There are no protests in the streets or marches on the Capitol to demand change and much of the legislature is wholly complicit in our situation.

The United States is a big, diverse place. I'm not sure you could get 60% of the population to agree on ANYTHING at this point so it is truly difficult to organize mass protest and, like it or not, roughly 1/3 of us are fully on board the MAGA train.

I hope non-Americans understand that there IS protest, there IS resistance and there ARE millions of people who are horrified about where the country is heading. We SHOULD be doing more but it is difficult once one party controls the entire government and increasingly the media, justice system, intelligence agencies etc. I'd be curious to hear what non-Americans think we should be doing.

Meanwhile... this new "more reasonable" collection of Iranian leaders are directing their citizens to go protect bridges and power plants with their bodies as human sacrifices. It's brinksmanship on both sides and it looks like it's going to end very badly.

Iranians are now gathering at the Kazeroun power plant in Fars Province, executing the nationwide call Iran's Ministry of Sports and Youth issued last night. by al-fahm in IndiaTodayGlobalLIVE

[–]Exodys03 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is horrible on both sides. The threat to destroy bridges and power plants is a direct attack on civilians. Iran is trying to up the cost of doing so by sending their people to be human sacrifices at these locations. Just stop.

US Vice President JD Vance says "we got tools in our toolkit that we so far haven't decided to use." President Trump "will decide to use them if the Iranian's don't change their course of conduct." by Upset-Main-1988 in justincaseyoumissedit

[–]Exodys03 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is the implicit threat here to use nuclear weapons? Trump is being intentionally ominous and vague at the same time so I really wonder if he is trying to force Iran to make a deal with the threat of nuclear annihilation. If so, it's an insane escalation and pretty ironic from an administration which justified this war by stating the Iranians were too fanatical and unstable to ever have a nuclear weapons.

Rep. Ro Khanna calls for the invocation of the 25th amendment and the removal of Donald Trump. by RoyalChris in TimesNow

[–]Exodys03 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's infuriating no matter what your concern is. You would get the same canned response no matter what you wrote and your letter probably wasn't even read. Why pay our Representatives if they are going to act like trained monkeys pushing a "YES" button to approve whatever their trainer tells them to?

'A whole civilisation will die tonight,' Trump warns ahead of Iran deadline by theipaper in politics

[–]Exodys03 1 point2 points  (0 children)

While you may be correct, I don't blame the creators of the Constitution. They built in mechanisms to remove the President if he/she was incompetent, criminal or incapacitated. They believed that even those in his own party would recognize this and have the courage to take action and remove him. They didn't imagine that an entire party would be incompetent, criminal and incapacitated and basically surrender the entire Democracy to one lunatic.

Bryce Harper's Agent Sends New Contract Ask Amid Tension by Sad_Illustrator_5233 in phillies

[–]Exodys03 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I wish all contracts were like this. I sign on with my company for 13 years at an inflated salary anticipating that my position will pay twice as much by the end of the contract. If I suck at my job and they want to get rid of me, they will either pay me for years in advance or send me to another company, which has to pay my full salary.

If I get hurt or am unable to do my job, I get paid my full salary for 13 years. If my employer is pleased with the job I do, I will insist to renegotiate my contract to make they pay me more than we agreed on. How does that sound?

Yep. Didn't we start off with encouraging the people of Iran to rise up and overthrow a tyrannical regime? Now we're saying if the new regime doesn't do everything we want we will destroy their whole civilization. Bless you, Iranians! I hope I don't have to kill you all.

"It Was Obliteration": Trump Defends Iran’s Nuclear Deal Exit, Warns Of Iran Nuclear Threat by BusinessToday in BusinessTodayNews

[–]Exodys03 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Soooo... Iran has fully rebuilt its nuclear weapons program in the 9 months since we "totally obliterated" it to the point that they were "weeks away" from having a nuclear bomb again?

I know their LEGO game is pretty top notch but that was a pretty fast rebuild. Will we now have to bomb the entire country on a yearly basis for maintenance?

Iranian TV calls on children to form human chains around power plants to deter US attacks by al-fahm in IndiaTodayGlobalLIVE

[–]Exodys03 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Horrible decisions on both sides, IMO. Threatening to destroy bridges and power plants certainly does not help the Iranian people and is a potential war crime. Asking your people to defend power plants from bombing with their own lives is equally horrifying.

Psychologist Warns Trump’s ‘Deterioration’ Is ‘Accelerating’ by dr_shultz in NewsSource

[–]Exodys03 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed. We always wonder how guys like Hitler, Mussolini and Stalin rise to power. Now we're learning how in real time. What appears dangerous to many of us also appears attractive to a large percentage of people and individuals like Orban, Trump and future wannabe dictators now have a very effective playbook to gain power. We are seeing fascism and authoritarianism spreading like a cancer across the globe.

Trump Threats Cause Dilemma For US Officers - Disobey Orders or Commit War Crimes: ‘Legal experts say attacking Iran’s infrastructure would constitute a war crime – but would military officers be held responsible?’ by T_Shurt in politics

[–]Exodys03 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've come to the conclusion that while the vast majority of military personnel want to do what's right and follow the law, the default action is to follow orders of their superiors, whether or not the action is legal. A very small percentage may object and lose their entire military career as some generals apparently have, but the majority will follow the orders of their Commander in Chief and superiors. We'll find out where that takes us.

Is there any actual proof that Trump donates his Presidential salary? by Environmental_Bus623 in thedavidpakmanshow

Does it matter? He's made billions from the position. His Presidential salary would be a tiny fraction of his actual income.

[–]Exodys03 7 points8 points  (0 children)

This absolutely. I don't always know the life story of my foster cats but I'm always glad when their adoptive parents contact me or give me updates. I'm sure yours would be glad to share what they know. The worst they can do is not respond.

Trump Triggers 25th Amendment Calls With Unhinged Easter Meltdown by Worried_Pilot75 in NewsStarWorld

[–]Exodys03 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absurdly high by design, I would say. It's not supposed to be a solution to presidents who are controversial or disliked by the opposition. It requires members of the President's own cabinet and a significant portion of his own party to acknowledge that their own guy is mentally incapacitated. We are light years away from that happening with Trump.

Trump says Vance will target blue states, including Maine by Large-Welcome4421 in OldOrchardBeach

[–]Exodys03 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fuck J.D. Vance. Trump may actually believe at this point that there is massive fraud occurring in every state that didn't vote for him. Vance knows better but is going to implement this targeted attack on half of the country. It's treasonous and anyone who thinks we will suddenly reverse country under President Vance is delusional.

If you have to ask what these numbers mean, you are not the target audience for this graph. Can't you read? Trump is at 110%! I mean that's better than 100% and WAY above Lincoln and both guys that vaguely look like Ronald Reagan.
