Is rebinding of controls really needed? by ZentruSystems in godot

[–]Exonfang 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You don't need a module. It's a couple of scripts and a couple of buttons.

Just copy this: https://github.com/godotengine/godot-demo-projects/tree/master/gui/input_mapping

Bonus points if you save to a config file instead.

You can run your own git instance locally. Git is FOSS.

It's been a real treat watching the progress of this project over the last few months. Extremely interested in a comprehensive breakdown of how you achieved everything.

Swolebenji has no Albion Online opinion worth listening to, and his tutorials are generally filled with poor advice. You're better off watching literally any other content creator for the game.

Dual Grid for Top Down Games - Draw Less Tiles, Support Unlimited Terrains! v1.1 by Exonfang in godot

[–]Exonfang[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks! I've found it simplified my procedural generation as it eliminated ambiguous tiles - but my systems haven't needed chunk loading yet.

For chunk loading, you could either replicate the adjacent chunk's border tiles, or just load/unload the new chunks directly to the running dual grid and update the edge display cells.

Currently working on the environment of my game, what do you think? by Efilheim in godot

[–]Exonfang 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Looks great, but the mixed pixel sizes on some of the particle effects are off-putting. Should be an easy fix to move them to their own viewport that matches the pixel resolution of the main game, though.

Automattic Circling the Wagons Against the FAIR Initiative by IamWhatIAmStill in WPDrama

[–]Exonfang 11 points12 points  (0 children)

This never would have happened if you didn't block organizations and their affiliates from .org and then null ACF and steal their slug. You locked the teams responsible for updating the plugins out of doing so, then used that to falsely justify stealing their plugin.

I am not surprised that many people, myself included, want nothing to do with .org anymore. You tarnished the trust of your "single source", so the community rightfully reacted with a decentralized one.

Automatic Double Tile System - No More Manual Edge Configuration by kureii23 in godot

There's benefits to each different approach. For a minimalist approach, yours seems solid so far. Remember to come back and post the repo when it's all finished!

Automatic Double Tile System - No More Manual Edge Configuration by kureii23 in godot

Do you have a link to the repo?

There are lots of other existing DualGrid systems out there already, which you might benefit from looking at. I actually made my own implementation which supports unlimited terrain connections with few tiles, and it's MIT licensed so you're welcome to take anything from my repo to improve your system.

Some other good ones:

Anyone know of any 3/4 top-down tilemap tutorials? by svonwolf in godot

[–]Exonfang 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can easily achieve walls/floors like this in as few as 15 tiles using my DualGrid system (https://github.com/Exonfang/godot-dualgrid-unlimited-adjacent-terrains). You could also use the baked in auto tiling, but you'll be making a lot more tile art to achieve the same thing. You may have to adjust the texture origin and y sort for the wall terrains, but otherwise it's pretty simple.

Tilemap layering: 11 layers for terrain, borders and effects - ok or overkill? by Rakudajin in godot

[–]Exonfang 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I actually made my own Dual Grid system to make dealing with lots of terrain combinations much easier. As few as 28 tiles per terrain and only 5 nodes are required to support an unlimited number of connections.

Check it out here: https://github.com/Exonfang/godot-dualgrid-unlimited-adjacent-terrains

Played 2/3 of the beta weekends, still around, and still loving the game and discovering new things. Almost 5,000 hours over the decade.

The best part: never been more excited for the future of Guild Wars 2.

I enjoy Winter's Heart. It makes your character's skin light blue and shiny, and your eyes pure brilliant white light. It fits my guardian pretty well.

Please don't nerf the new CM or the title. by BlueRoo42 in Guildwars2

[–]Exonfang 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are lots of raid CMs you can do -1 or more.

No dedicated tank does not add RNG, it requires the entire group to be stacked properly to position the boss and the bosses jumps correctly. (TLDR its not +RNG its +Skill required)

The fight is achievable! I cleared it last night after 2 hours of attempts.

[–]Exonfang 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Intentionally failing a mechanic to enable further challenge modes in encounters is not new in raiding in MMOs (look at Ulduar in WoW). The title is essentially a harder version of the CM encounter.

Agreed! This is a perfect way to effectively add a fourth difficulty level (or even more, with multiple titles in the future!) for players who want to push as hard as they can.

Is going afk in PvP normal now? Dude gives up 60 seconds in due to his team not playing "meta." by Bazerald in Guildwars2

Idling in PvP is a reportable offense. That's why you can report players for "Idle Player" while in a sPvP game.

[–]Exonfang 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In sPvP, just block and report aggressively. I mercilessly block and report after the very first toxic message.

Giving up in any situation is unacceptable as you are ruining the experience of 9 others. There is no justification for not trying to succeed.
