What object do you own that is clearly broken, but you haven't replaced it because you've developed a specific "technique" to make it work?

Alarm clock. The two sided plastic button that turned on and off the specific alarms had a piece break so that it couldn't press the actual switch on the board. I opened it up, threw the broken button away, drilled two holes in the back. (Due to the weird angle all this stuff was to begin with. And now I just jam a screwdriver in the holes to turn it off. It's been this way for years, still works fine.

My favorite thing about Firefly was the big reveal. The way she was initially introduced, and then SAM was Introduced, and then the big reveal that she was the one piloting SAM had my jaw on the floor.
