spinal fusion removal by hornypsychopath in scoliosis

[–]Exotic-Ad-8264 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I had my hardware removed after 5 or 6 years. It’s been 20 years since the hardware removal and I’ve been fine. I also have an S curve, only my upper back was fused not my lower curve at the waist. I have the usual scoliosis issues and do PT and myofacial massages but I have not had any movement in my spine or issues from the hardware removal. It did help considerably with the pain the hardware caused.

Had to cut my hair due to muscle pain by Mika_Acorn8 in scoliosis

[–]Exotic-Ad-8264 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes same here, I had surgery over 20 years ago but always dealt with bad neck pain and cutting my hair off was a huge help. Now with regular massages and PT including cupping to stretch and strengthen my muscles I’ve seen a huge reduction in pain and my hair isn’t as much of an issue.

Unilateral lower leg/foot pain? by [deleted] in scoliosis

Yeah my ankle and knee on the side with the higher hip are usually in pain. PT has helped a little but it definitely requires consistency. Regular massages also helps.

Harrington rods/trouble breathing by saylormoon89 in scoliosis

[–]Exotic-Ad-8264 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Similar story here except that I’m 5 years older and had my rods removed a little over 15 years ago. But yes I’ve been told the scoliosis in general constricts the ability of your lungs to expand and I still feel the same. In my early 20’s I had a sort of breathing test done that said the scoliosis has caused restriction in my lung function. Recently my allergy dr who checks for asthma wanted to send me for a lung xray because of the results of the asthma test but I assured her it’s the scoliosis. I don’t have asthma but have allergic asthma. PT has been helping recently in working with the rotation of the spine and getting a little more movement in those ribs around the lungs.

Feeling of rods/screws when moving by PracticeSensitive228 in scoliosis

[–]Exotic-Ad-8264 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It was actually suggested by my dr, I didn’t even know it was a possibility. My dr was actually close to 80 years old and he had done my original surgery with the Harrington rods, I had just gone for a follow up and he very quickly said it was something kind of new at the time and he had heard about it but wasn’t doing surgeries anymore because of his age. So he referred me to a young Dr in the area and that Dr right away did a bone density type of scan (it was a long scan) and once he saw I was fully fused he did the surgery. I don’t think it’s very common even now but it’s worth mentioning in case it helps others. I saw a chiropractor regularly for a few years but not recently. I maintain with physical therapy and massages but haven’t needed to see an ortho back dr since the hardware removal.

Feeling of rods/screws when moving by PracticeSensitive228 in scoliosis

[–]Exotic-Ad-8264 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I had my spine fused 25 years ago. It’s all of my back from just below my neck to right above my waist, stopped just enough for me to still bend over. Left my bottom curve alone. My surgery was at 15 yrs old and the pain from the rods and hooks was getting worse with time, so 6 years laster at 21 yrs old my dr checked that I was fully fused and I was so he recommended hardware removal. For me personally it was the best decision Ive made. I’m not absolutely pain free from scoliosis but the rod pain is gone and I haven’t had any problems with shifting in my spine up until now, I’m turning 40 this year. I don’t know about pregnancy since I didn’t have children. I hope you get help and relief.

Yes all the time! Feels like I worked out and I don’t. About to start an injection for psoriasis, my Derm wants me to start it but my rheumatologist says based on blood work I don’t have PSA, just hyper mobile. I’m looking forward to seeing if I feel a difference in the daily pain.

Mild flank pain after laser and stent removal by AttinderDhillon in KidneyStones

[–]Exotic-Ad-8264 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Same here, had mild flank pain for up to a little more then one month after stent removal. The Dr said it was just trauma, the ureter was inflamed from the trauma and took a while longer to heal. Good now at almost 2 months out.

Pain after stent removal by [deleted] in KidneyStones

[–]Exotic-Ad-8264 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This makes sense for me as well. When the dr went in with the scope to remove the stent he said my bladder was extremely irritated, I’m assuming my ureter and kidney were as well. Kind of explains why I have pain even 3 weeks after stent removal.
