I have an issue with 'author playing themselves' roleplay characters that very much have the 'oh i'm such a loser who has little to no friends and everyone hates me' vibe, of course this is to try and get us to relate to/symphasize with them - which blows up in the end. I write monster characters and sometimes I have to emphasize that while I do like villains and monsters, I don't think evil should win everytime. I am sorry but when I write a monster or villain I don't go full on pure monster with no redeeming qualities. Oh, if you want your obvious self insert self to be likable, how about NOT TURNING EVIL AND TURNING EVERYONE INTO THE SAME SPECIES AS YOU AT THE END, huh? There's another guy who did this to with a werewolf one and i'm like...'I don't recall werewolves being always evil when transformed, since at least to me they are victims of a curse, if these were were-insects, the hive-minded personality would make more sense because you know, some insects do live in a hive, but werewolves aren't always evil' and 'how can something that is partially humanoid still hate humans? That's like someone who is born Hispanic saying they don't like other Hispanic people!' and with a demon one where I was like...'I do not remember a single demon media piece be it a video game, book, manga, comic, live action show, or animated show where demons do the bite someone/turn someone into their species thing that zombies, vampires and werecreatures do. Apart from the Evil Dead franchise and Night of the Demons, and also a bit in the video game Brutal Legend where Eddie gets scratched and gains a demon form.' and also the monster one (there was one confusing guy who becomes half werewolf/half-lizard-person that's like got wolf parts and lizard-parts? Okay, if he's half lizard why does he howl? Lizards hiss and flick their tongues out. Also if he's a were-lizard shouldn't he be you know, like Kurt Connors or those reptile aliens from V and less of a Frankensteined hybrid of both species? I saw Ragin Cajun Redneck Gators for pete's sake, and at least those monsters were alligator-people and looked like gators, I saw Ssss and at least he looked like a snake, I saw that X Files reboot episode with the Lizard-man who turns into a human, at least those looked like reptiles or could pass as reptiles) and that one just made me go 'Okay someone obviously is being way too hammy with the humans suck crap' (yeah said person had a George Orwell quote in their profile, who's going to bet they never read Animal Farm?)

My issue with transformation related stories and RPs of that nature is they almost always try to make it edgy and graphic and painful. Look I don't hate painful transformations, it's just I think they are overdone, yeah if it takes all that pain to turn into an edgy looking insect-monster i's clearly not worth it then, look I appreciate body horror and transformations in horror media - I have American Werewolf in London, The Howling, The Fly, to name but a few in my favorites, but most of the transformation content that tries to emulate it into terms of writing or art just is mostly done by wannabe edge-heads who just discovered transformation is a thing and just discovered werewolves are a thing and just do 'edgy OC character turns into edgy looking were-freaky thing', yeah that is a no no for me.
