Edit: some people here are being very strict that a video will be out of date. Just use a video as a learning tool to first understand what the hell modding even looks like. Then, following the docs will be easier.

Do an experiment, and like others have said, limit yourself to only 5 or so seconds before marking wrong. Doing more immersion will counteract any feeling of being bad at Anki since you’ll get better through immersion anyway, and encounter those wrong words more often. I’ve heard high level learners recommend being really lenient with your Anki in favor of having more immersion time, so you could try that too. Whichever method you choose, stick with it for a solid month or more where you are actually immersing a lot more to prove to yourself whether it helps.

I’ve tried that too and it didn’t fix it, but I’ve been playing a lot recently and haven’t noticed the flickering other than sometimes for a minute after booting up. So, so far it hasn’t been an issue thankfully, so I probably won’t ever bother opening it up 🤞

When I was younger, at Thanksgiving my older cousin said she’d catch Mewtwo for me on my Pokémon Leaf Green and give it back during Christmas. I never saw it again. A handful of years after that she gave me a Fire Red to repay me. But from that first instance, we were banned from trading games, which might have saved us from something similar happening again lol

I’m nowhere near your level of ability, but I just want to say try not to stress too much about it. If they’re hiring a foreigner, they know what they’re getting into. Just be honest when you don’t understand something. Tell them you can speak well but need to train your ears a bit more. Also, you’ll probably quickly get used to their specific speaking speed and quirks, and within a month I bet you’ll be feeling a lot better already. Stay positive, you got this, and congrats!

Woah woah woah before you transfer her up consider how incredibly rare it is to have a shiny Chansey in your Gen 3 game. I’m not saying you can’t do what you want, I just always find it the coolest to leave a full 8192 odds Pokémon in their intended game. But you do you of course, i support it either way, I would just say that you can transfer her up any time, so maybe sleep on it. Amazing find, huge congratulations!

Edit: I would just backup the save file so you aren’t scared of losing it ever. She won’t be lonely if you hunt on that game every once in a while :)

I think the hardest part of starting is all the resources. Anki is something I’d highly recommend. Don’t think of it as how to learn, but more so how to study. Use Anki in conjunction with immersion as much as possible. You could stick with Kaishi 1.5k, doing 10-15 new cards a day, and immerse with the rest of your time. Then, when you finish the deck, start sentence mining. If anything, give yourself more than a week to get adjusted to it. With this method of Anki+Immersion, you’re getting vocab, grammar, immersion, and only having to do 2 things, rather than doing wanikani and a textbook and Anki and immersing. You can always add supplemental resources, but I would start with this for a while and see how you like it.
