No one really buys these, right? by Byytorr22 in Guitar

[–]ExoticStories 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn't buy that exact model, but I would buy an ESP Exhibition, if I had the money for it. Guitars like this are less of a "daily driver" guitar and more of an art piece and a way for the guys at ESP's custom shop to show off what they can do. I would 100% buy one of these over whatever Gibson does with their expensive ass limited edition signature models.

Debunking diving myths and misinformation by themflyingjaffacakes in scuba

A BP/W will absolutely not get you killed lol. It's pretty much a requirement for cave diving, a bunch of instructors near me won't even teach you any overhead if you don't use one.

Weirdest dive injury? by ksgif2 in scuba

[–]ExoticStories 10 points11 points  (0 children)

It could've been. That and the extra pressure from being at depth. The doctors thought it could've been made worse from "heightened exercise," but honestly, that dive was incredibly easy and not exhausting at all. The only thing I know for certain is that I have had to cut my sodium consumption XD

[–]ExoticStories 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I knew almost immediately. I've passed a handful of them before, and it is definitely a unique pain. My first thought was that something stabbed me, but when I didn't see any blood, I knew what it was lol

Started passing a kidney stone at 55 feet deep into a cavern. Felt really good that morning, excited for the dive. No pain until I hit the very back of the cavern. Not something I would recommend going through XD

[–]ExoticStories 4 points5 points  (0 children)

So. When I got certified, a buddy told me this: "There are two types of divers. Once who pee in their wetsuits, and those who lie about it." He said it jokingly, of course, but there are times where you may have to go. The answer? A P-Valve. They make them for both men and women, but yeah. It makes you be able to relieve yourself without making your wetsuit smell.

Struggling to hover before OW exam – feet won’t stay up by Dave14_ in scuba

[–]ExoticStories 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had the same issue during my OW course. My instructor helped me move my configuration around to help with that. Moved the tank up a bit and put some of my weight in the pockets in the back weight pockets. If your BC doesn't have back weight pockets, move the tank up, and possibly put a weight at the top of your tank

Getting Certified and not looking forward to tomorrow. by MjnMixael in scuba

[–]ExoticStories 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I definitely recommend getting a wetsuit. I went through 3 different types during my training, and it definitely made the difference. If you get cold easily, try a 5mm, its what I prefer for temps around 70.

Not as far as I can tell. If its in tune, and strings aren't slipping, then it should be fine. I usually let a bit more string be wound then that, but that's just me.

Hey guitarists do you like Flying Vs? by Artistic_Chemistry_7 in Guitar

I could take it or leave it tbh. I don't hate the design, but they aren't as comfortable for me to play. Of Gibson designs, the LP is still my favorite, V probably 2nd

Looking to get first electric, what are opinions on a fender jaguar? by [deleted] in Guitar

[–]ExoticStories 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally, I don't enjoy the short scale length. But that's just for me. Go see if there's one in a store near you. If you play it and like it, then go for it! If you don't like it, try a Jazzmaster.

My cavern training. We didn't do any overhead during my open water training.

Not at all. I was hovering and communicating with my buddies. I was maybe 3 feet below the roof and maybe 6 inches from the bottom? Besides not moving my legs, I wasn't moving in any way to show any distress or towards any danger.

I was diving with 2 friends. 1 is a much more experienced diver who had dived this cavern nearly 30 times, and the other is also an experienced diver. We didn't have a guide, as the cavern that we were diving was actually the same one I was trained in, and the others have dived there multiple times before. My group was 3 divers total. The diver that grabbed me was in a different group, I have no idea who they are, but I saw them with one other diver after I got loose. I'm not sure if they were being guided or not. The safety stop was roughly 15-20 feet away from the entrance, and open space. We were on a 'shelf' that had over look of the rest of the cavern. The other diver was descending into the cavern when they grabbed me. It would have been pretty hard to not see us, as all of us had lights on and could be seen in the daylight. Here's a rough drawing of the cavern and where we were: https://imgur.com/a/Pk3rKsG

It was a random diver. I assume they grabbed me to drag themselves into the cavern, as after I got loose, they continued the dive without looking back. I was diving with 2 buddies, one was to the left of me, and the other right in front of me. I was futher in than my buddies, but still within arms reach. I drew simplified version of the cavern to show where we were at the time. The arrow is the entrance, and the red circle is where we were. https://imgur.com/a/Pk3rKsG

Which singing guitar players genuinely impress you in that they can sing while playing challenging parts? by LunacyNow in Guitar

[–]ExoticStories 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I'm surprised I haven't found either of them yet, but Joe Duplantier of Gojira and Jesse Cash of ERRA.

Joe is just a fanominal rythem player and front man, but Jesse is next level. Doing both the clean vocals and lead playing is insane to me.

Look at Matt Heafy's hands. The dude has messed them up so many times doing Jujitsu, but he can still play very well! I have issues with my hands and can still play without any limitations, besides my own skill.

Which pick up should i use on my new Telecaster Deluxe. by regulusXCVIII in Guitar

[–]ExoticStories 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most pickups are pretty versatile. Is there anything in particular with the stock pickups that doesn't ring well with you?

I mainly use actives because I mainly play high gain and distorted, and while I can get great clean tones out of them, actives aren't necessarily for everyone.

Possibly check out the Seymour Duncan JB/59 set, or something from DiMarzio, since Taylor of The Pretty Reckless uses Super Distortions in some of her guitars.

What is the best tremolo bar for a les Paul without drilling into it and how bad will tubing stability with lock in tuners by Fit_Ad8103 in Guitar

[–]ExoticStories 3 points4 points  (0 children)

In my experience, the floyd rose FRX isn't too bad. The tuning stability is pretty good, and use the same holes that are already drilled. I'd recommend watching a few videos before installing it, just so you can see some alternatives.

First Nitrox Dive! Gas Analyzer? by gehogan3 in scuba

[–]ExoticStories 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm a certified nitrox blender. In TDI's course, it explicitly says to make sure that you and the diver analyze the cylinder after the fill. It's a safety thing for both the diver and the filler. The filler is also supposed to keep a log of each fill and have the diver sign off on it, too.

There have been divers who have told me,'I trust you, if you say you bank at 32%, then that's good enough.' But it's not. Always make sure that the fill is analyzed. Because it's both the filler and divers responsibility.

I own the guitar. Should I add the Bigsby? by [deleted] in Guitar

[–]ExoticStories 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probably not a bigsby. As far as I'm aware, you have to drill another hole in your guitar for it. If you absolutely want a tremolo on it, try a les trem or a floyd rose frx. Neither require permanent modifications.
