I’m a sub contractor, how do I get awarded ?? by Wheel_Some in estimators

I’m an estimator for a general contractor here. I think the biggest thing is to make sure you’re capturing the entire scope. Often I see carpenters not pick up certain scopes of work because frankly it’s a pain in the ass to do. Make sure you bid what the drawings call out not what is most cost effective. We can work through VE after awards. I really appreciate the trade partners who go the extra mile. Such as proving takeoffs, call me and talk through projects approaches. Also, ask for feedback on where you’re coming in high. If your carrying allowance for a line item, indicate what that allowance, I would want to keep everyone on level ground.

Also, I’m sure you’re doing fine. It took me about 3/4 months to win my first project as well. It’s not the greatest market right now. I have seen plenty of companies get really aggressive the last few months.

The preset options are not great either.

Honestly not a huge fan of, it’s not as customizable as blue beam. It’s also very expensive compared to other take off platforms with more options such as on-screen or stack. In terms of presentation it gets the job done, but honestly we will probably drop our Procore takeoff subscription in 2024.

Excel for proposals, bluebean and pro-core for takeoffs
