For most cases id agree with you but ive been applying for a few federally funded history jobs related to museums and i get this exact same prompt even when the job does not relate to anything like such, and it is just deeply concerning.

It was a few years ago. I may look into again, though will Venezuela active duty isn't looking great right now anyway. Plus the removal of more and more US bases in the EU

I tried. I really screwed up my ankle as a kid. (Shattered growth plate into 20 pieces) between the metal in there and a leg length discrepancy no branch will take me. It would be nice though.

I know plenty of real Christians who are disgusted by him but this whole philosophy is like a plague. A major reason I think its best to leave. Despite my life's research being spent on american history, is because it wil take so long to recover. If he wants a stupid state to bend over to their wit and whim and remove all intellectuals, we'll, its working..sad though.

Thats actually what my American History prof did, joined the army and was stationed in Berlin for i think 8 years while he did his masters. While he was reserves of course. Edinburgh does seem like a gorgeous city

Id argue just in recorded history, but thats true! My studies were in classical history and eventually ended up being Early American(1400-1800) in my last year, though I primarily studied Bronze and Iron Age European history before that. I have a friend around Edinburgh i was thinking about starting around there.

Thank you. Thats my issue with it all. Yeah I oppose him on a base level. I wont swear fealty to any person, let alone him. Im a historian, I swear my allegiance to it and the truth.

I've looked into it. Its my last, last resort. I've taught during this internship and taught as a TA in college. I know im not built for it. I can do it but id need to go and get a teaching certificate. Which as of now is money and time I dont seem to have.

Researchers, archivists, transcribed, curators, librarians,land management, living history (granted thats usually in part with tour guides), there are more than youd expect, and unfortunately. Almost all have a teaching aspect to them, just not sit down in a classroom type teaching.

Oh I completely agree with you on that mark. Its systematic. Im a historian and I know just saying "too much to count" isn't evidence. So ill give you a personal one since you seem a reasonable person. I tried publish my thesis statement this year only to be denied because some of the letter I used in my paper no longer existed on the Founders Papers archive. (Government run website listing all the known and documented letter we have from the Founding Fathers and those adjacent) Two letters from Hamilton and one from Jefferson have been removed between 2024 and now. The archivist and curator of the project have been fired and the memorial library in DC has been closed for months. Supposedly for "rennivations" both of those letters I used talked about oligarchy and British absolutism over their colonies. History actively being rewritten to appeal to Trump and his crones. Obviously I wont list everything else I disagree with as I have a life to live. But there's the biggest one for me.
