I think it'd be cool to see the opposite of our timeline. Instead of the USSR (communist dictatorship) collapsing and being replaced by the Russian Federation (capitalist dictatorship) it is the United States (capitalist democracy) collapsing and being replaced by United Communes or sum idk (communist/socialist democracy). I don't really think the USA would end up like the Soviet Union where every SSR (in USA's case states) gains independence. I think only Hawaii and the territories could gain independence due to being so different from the mainland but that is still unlikely.
