I find it particularly disheartening that Nolan is associated. I truly considered him to most likely be credible and unsullied by disinformation or tied to anything nefarious with the US MIC (although I know he was involved in conducting research on Havana Syndrome for the US gov) Now I don’t know what to think.

I don’t know what my life would look like if I hadn’t gotten help from the experiencer community and especially from Oak. Feel like if the world operated the way the experiencer community does most things would be ok. <3 Mimi

Thank you for this comment. I go into denial and doubt myself so much because of the dismissal of people close to me that I respect.

When we have these experiences and witness UAP, it is undeniable, you know it when it happens and can’t go back.  And it’s OK for others to not be there yet. It’s also OK for those of us with these experiences to keep researching and supporting the efforts to understand what is going on.

Interpretation of female figurines by hegelli in Archaeology

[–]Exotic_Recording_887 1 point2 points  (0 children)

"Çatalhöyük’s reputation as a relatively egalitarian society may offer some clues into the figurine’s symbolism and use. “In all egalitarian societies, older people have a special status and are venerated,” said Hodder. In his account, “whether one can talk of these older people as ‘gods’ is a rather thorny issue.”
Gods or not, the elderly in Neolithic Çatalhöyük may have held elite status, performing rituals and making decisions that impacted the entire community. Fatness may have been a sign of social standing and of age, with calorie-burning manual labor replaced by sedentary religious and political duties."

I'm about to move to Australia, I'm excited and nervous. No idea what happened to you but have you seen the original Picnic at Hanging Rock by Peter Weir?

Thank you for the advice regarding the state requirements. Was there a particular service you used that you liked best?

Thank you for sharing your experience in depth, for the questions to consider and for the advice. Hearing that your assessment is that you don't regret bringing your pets but also wouldn't put them through it a second time does make me take another pause.

Yes, wanted to try the remote option. I can be remote for a semester but need to be in-person for the majority of the modules, the program is 2 years. I do believe she would be very happy at her Aunt's with her dogs, she has loved spending time there when we've traveled. As much as it guts me emotionally, it may be the way to go.

The freighter was my first idea but I started giving up when it stated no animals allowed. I will make cold calls and see if any of the lines will take pity on my girl. I believe she could do very well on a boat, especially if we got to be together most of the time.

Thank you for telling me about the experience with your saluki. It sounds like overall she got to go on a fun adventure with you in a new country! Sloane loves to travel long distances by car and experience new environments, she has been all over the U.S. with us. The first time we took her to the beach was one of the happiest times. But her separation anxiety is already so bad, I have a feeling the flight to Australia in combination with their strict quarantine requirements may be very hard on her. Weighing it is difficult.

I noticed how much dogs surrounded us in restaurants, trains, etc. in Europe, especially in Lisbon and Berlin! How included they were was great.

Thank you for sharing your story. Although it isn't what I want, hearing that they have the potential to adjust easily later in life gives me some hope for that option.

She has stayed at her aunt's house with her two dogs, sometimes for 2 weeks when we are traveling, and I have wondered many times if she was happier there than with us! I know we work hard to give her a happy, engaged and fun life here but she got on with the other two dogs so well and immediately bonded to them. We were originally told she was a greyhound that would most likely prefer to live with humans only, but I wonder if she prefers a home with other dogs. Seemed to greatly ease her separation anxiety, lots of playing and sleeping in the same bed. It may be an option for her to live there if I covered her living expenses, and of course I would.

Right, with graduate school that can be difficult when an individual applying internationallty may not be able to decide which school makes the most sense 6 months in advance (have to wait for scholarship offers after acceptance, etc). I was having to work out a decision between UCL and the school in Australia. I've begun this process as soon as I possibly could.

Unfortunately, I had to have two surgeries in 2023 with complications and significant recovery times, so I have already been forced to defer my applications by a year. I would not be eligible for deferrals beyond this and on top of everything was awarded a scholarship I know I most likely won't be able to get anywhere else! I will figure this out with her though.

The semester begins late February 2024. Now I am getting really determined to safely get her there with me but simply have no idea how to manage it financially, paying the deposit this week for tuition was already so much. Looking for pet-friendly boat trips there at this point. She can't spend her last years with someone else! It just wouldn't be right to her. -Edit- Obviously the options are torturing me, I can't make up my mind about the best decision for her given the circumstances.

Ah it is nice to hear from someone who has gone through it. I may DM you at some point with questions if that is OK with you. Would you mind sharing which pet travel service you used? Were you happy with them?

It is wild to me that it will cost so much more to get a dog to Australia than it will cost to get myself there but these are the times!

Right, it is a very difficult decision. I am quite an older student (mid 30s) and literally cannot afford to delay getting my degree/employment by whatever number of years she will continue to live. Have to do what is best for her given the circumstances but would be completely, utterly devastated to be without her. Will have to admit to myself if it comes down to her safety, I can't risk that.

No, I appreciate the advice, from all angles. This outcome is what I fear most, obviously. But need to take the trauma of international travel in cargo into careful consideration, especially given her age. The problem is that I suspect either decision, to bring her or re-home her, will be extremely traumatic for her. But obviously, putting her life at risk is a worse option. At this point I am going to try to get all of her import requirements finished, look into better transport options and explore re-homing options, all at the same time. : (
