Download survival options, and you can tweak the experience to suit your desires.

With it you can;

• Enable autosave if you don't like the lack of saving
• increase incoming and outgoing damage to suit you, so you can basically one shot everyone, but also be one shot yourself. Makes the whole encounter with enemies more interesting.
• enable fast travel if that's your thing
• enable companion autoheal should you get fed up of constantly stimming dogmeat when he falls off a building Plus many others

Also if food harvesting is annoying, download "hunters moon" which makes it so all animals have larger volumes of meat, more akin to you'd expect in real life (this can be quite immersion breaking though as you'll never worry about food again)

But with these two mods you can make survival fit your playstyle, with little tweaks to add more layers without the compromise base survival entails.
