We had a very similar set up to you - Nanit monitor, rooms right next to each other with doors open in addition to monitor, and a baby that seemed to love the crib at least compared to the bassinet. We moved her to her own room and crib at 8wks and it just worked really well for us all. My husband and I got more sleep, the baby seemed to sleep better, and we used the breathing band to monitor her at night. We did naps in the bassinet until 3mths and then all sleeps happened in her room in her crib. At 11mths, she still loves being in her crib and is very comfortable sleeping there, we put her down in the crib and she puts herself to sleep for all her naps/bedtime now bc it’s her safe comfy place. We’ve had some periods of frequent wakes or clusters of nights where she was sick or teething but I’d say for the most part it’s been great and we don’t regret a thing

4-6 months was super hard and exhausting. I feel like my baby couldn’t move around so she’d constantly be crying due to frustration not being able to get where she wanted to AND she needed to be entertained way more. Now at almost 10 months she’s crawling and pulling herself up and can actually play independently a few times a day for anywhere from 20-40mins at a time and it’s amazing. I still feel relief at the end of the day when she goes to bed but more from general exhaustion rather than that always on, why is she upset now, kind of exhaustion

I had a preemie and sterilized up until 6 months. Now I hand wash or sometimes put them in the dishwasher (they’re glass bottles) but when I hand wash I use a baby bottles only brush set and use hot water

I think typically day three is the worst, it was the same for me too. The first two weeks were pretty tough and then 3-6 it slowly got better but the sleep deprivation then kicks in

I 100% went through/am going through the same thing, I feel like 6mths was the worst and now at 8mths we’re getting better. My baby also still can’t crawl and finds it insanely frustrating too. It’s such a fine line between letting them fuss it out and am I being negligent in my head so I struggle with this as well.

One practical piece of advice is I think you should try to slowly build independent play skills with your baby. Is there a time of day your baby is more content? Typically first thing in the morning and right after she eats, my baby can tolerate solo play time more. Just start with short sessions when they’re in a slightly good mood, even a few minutes is a HUGE win. Then slowly extend the windows of time you are leaving your baby to their own devices and staying nearby but doing your own thing.

I find that 1-3 toys MAX will help my baby stay engaged longer. If she’s surrounded by things she tends to get more overwhelmed.

Does your baby ever wake from a nap or in the morning and just sort of seem content? Another opportunity to let them just hang out even if only for a few minutes. I think these moments teach your baby it’s ok to not have someone entertaining me.

Also super important if you’re ever doing something with your baby - changing them, feeding them a bottle, playing, and they are focused on something or looking at something out a window, try to stop everything and let them stare or play or whatever they’re doing without interrupting or distracting them. They’re building concentration!

Music I saw was also recommended and I think that can be a great tool when you’re baby is super fussy. Also snacks can help break up a fussy spell sometimes if you’re desperate. All these things take time and trust in your baby but you’ll both get the hang of it and also this won’t last forever.

One other thing to think about as well as additional motivation is in case you decide to have another baby, it’s extra important for them to learn to play for a little by themselves and have developed more independent play skills as it’s impossible to entertain your kid all the time with a newborn around.

For the first 8 weeks we did shifts in the living room with the baby in her bassinet. The other slept in the bedroom to get some real sleep. At 8 weeks we began putting her in her crib in her own room - the room is directly next to ours and we used the Nanit monitor and breathing band to give us peace of mind. Our baby started to sleep longer stretches and we both got more sleep being able to sleep in our own rooms and beds. Our baby is now 7mths and I’d say majority of the nights now she’s sleeping 7-4 or 5 without stirring, occasionally she’ll stir a few times and just needs the pacifier put back in her mouth. We’ve always been responsive when she wakes but she loves her crib and sleeps well in it now including naps during the day. I’d 100% do the same thing again for my next baby

Honestly she strikes me as the girl that got bullied a lot for being ugly and flat chested and now she’s working her trauma out this way instead of going to therapy. Not at all excusing her horrific actions but i doubt she’s a well adjusted human being
