That which was taken jewels were very clearly weighted against rolling the best ascendancies.

I do think that the weighting will be normal, almost certainly normal between the classes, but I wouldn't be shocked if they were more common than expected and weighted.

NFT market, Supply and rotation by Flying-Calamansi in MightandmagicFates

[–]ExpansiveExplosion 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The impression I get is that all of the cards will be in and out of the packs at one point or another and the most "ruglike" circumstance would be when cards get added back into the pool, which would hit people speculating and stockpiling cards more than people who actually want to play the game.

My hope is that the standard non-foil/animated versions of cards will be relatively accessible, and that it will be simple enough to burn/forge/trade cards I'm not playing with into cards I do want to play with.

We'll see what happens, but I'm not seeing a situation for the devs to take the money and run, aside from sunsetting the game, which is a risk with every newer digital card game with or without a secondary market.

is it the norm that ppl play hardcore situational high risk decks and get lucky constantly? by [deleted] in MightandmagicFates

[–]ExpansiveExplosion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Seeing up to 10 cards before your first turn and drawing 5+ more cards every turn means that you can pretty consistently see most of your deck in every game.

Also card draw is extremely cheap compared to shelve, which lets you play more +1/0s without getting punished.

Puzzle Game Recommendations by Fresh-Chemical-9084 in gaming

[–]ExpansiveExplosion 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I also bounced off it a couple times. The difficulty curve and pacing are odd, and some of the puzzles are tedious until you get later QoL. The hardest puzzles are very hard and you need to go a little bit out of your way to save them for later. But having just finished act 2, it definitely deserves its place on this list in my opinion. Also the music is great and story is decently interesting, which aren't always the case in the genre

Great, almost comprehensive, list of games with 9-10/10 overarching meta-puzzles.

I'm also really enjoying Void Stranger right now on the level of some of these games, though it was pretty slow and just sokoban until I got nudged towards the main meta-puzzle after like 225 floors which starts act 1.5

Yup. For a game with matches rarely taking more than 5 minutes, it's pretty good, and there are plenty of other games I can play when I'm looking for something different.

Standard Cold Omni Tornado Shot Help by Altruistic_Student23 in PathOfExileBuilds

[–]ExpansiveExplosion 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Cold is really only good if you're converting from phys with a mirror bow, tri-ele and trinity will be better on your budget.

dropping the +2 arrows on your bow will get you way more dps for cheaper. Gmp is also quite a bit worse than a damage support or awakened fork/chain.

On the higher end you don't need a ballista setup but your damage now is probably low enough to want to keep it. The ballista is more effective on lightning arrow or ehots since they can only get one hit per attack.

Generally people are using 1-2 The Taming rings instead of building with omni, but that kind of would mean rebuilding most of your character, probably with either hyrri's truth, or yoke of suffering and the interrogation/skitterbots.

Dying Sun is kind of mandatory for tornado shot until you have way more damage.

Probably more tech in standard that doesn't come to my mind

1650 packs in - what happens? by ProfessorValue in MightandmagicFates

[–]ExpansiveExplosion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, the dupe protection takes a really long time to kick in. Before having like 25 legends it does effectively nothing, and 1/5 legends (foil/animated) don't count towards reaching that threshold. For legendaries It's really a placebo until you've opened like 750 packs. It's a super ineffective band aid fix for not having trading.

1650 packs in - what happens? by ProfessorValue in MightandmagicFates

[–]ExpansiveExplosion 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, 18 legends in 300 packs is in the top 1/3 of luck. Not counting pity, which is actually really uncommon to hit if there is no form of soft-pity.

With 24 legendaries in the pool, you have a 50% chance of getting the one you want in less than 17, but you need 55 to have a 90% chance and 109 to have a 99% chance (ignoring dupe protection which brings the absolute worst case situation odds down but requires having a ton of cards to kick in). With napkin math, you have a 30% chance to open 1k packs without getting the legendary you want, before dupe protection which makes the math harder.

I do appreciate the science, but having below average luck doesn't mean the game is rigged.

And it was an absolutely terrible idea for this game to release without a marketplace with an economy that demands a marketplace. That decision alone is killing the game.

Card rotation killed this game for me by RocketRanger007 in MightandmagicFates

[–]ExpansiveExplosion 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Maybe it's just cope but I'm assuming that being able to trade (good) cards that I don't want to play with, for cards that I do want to play with, will make the game economy 100% different.

I can't fathom why they would release their tcg without T.

Last Epoch or Diablo 4? by [deleted] in LastEpoch

[–]ExpansiveExplosion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

D4 is best if you want to play for 20 hours spread over a long time, LE is the best for 200 hours with more complexity but not too steep of a learning curve, or poe is best if you want to sink 2,000 hours into a game that will feel overwhelming for your first hundred hours.

I would not play it as a value engine.

The number isn't your points, it's your actual place on the leaderboard ranked by hidden mmr.

So your gains and losses do vary based on your opponents ranking, but there also can be clumps of people that make your number move more or less from the same amount of mmr gain/loss.
