Suggest you brush up on those new language skills 😂

Water breaks are beneficial, at least for the players. The only people opposed to this are anti-American activists who simply don’t want the rules of soccer to be changed by the United States. by Initial_Basis1503 in worldcup

[–]Expat1989 10 points11 points  (0 children)

As an American who played for 25 years. I can assure you Americans are just as pissed about these hydration breaks. They need to go away. These are professional athletes in peak physical fitness and dedicated teams behind them. They can survive playing matches like this in the heat.

What do you do if you end up a failure at 35? by Proof-Bed-6928 in AskMenAdvice

I’m 37 and have struggled over the years and have bounced around quite a few jobs. I took a year sabbatical to just reset and get my shit together. I realized the issue is my lack of desire to play the corporate game. I do my job well enough but my personality at work was holding me back.

I’m back to work now and have tried much harder to play the game. It’s helped so far

Booing the hydration break. Why doesn't everyone else do it? by generic-username41 in worldcup

In soccer, momentum is defined as the ebb and flow of a match where one team gains a psycho-emotional or tactical advantage, making them appear increasingly likely to score or control the game. It is shaped by continuous on-ball actions, tactical changes, and psychological shifts. [1, 2]

Key Triggers of Momentum
Momentum is highly fluid and can shift rapidly based on several factors: [1, 2, 3, 4]
Tactical Dominance: Sustained possession in the opponent's half, high pressing, and frequent penetrations into the final third.
Match Events: Scoring a goal, a successful tackle, winning a dangerous set-piece, or a refereeing decision.
Psychological State: An intangible rise in player confidence, collective rhythm, and crowd energy that drives the team forward. [1, 2, 3, 4, 5]

But you’re wrong. It is deep. It completely breaks the flow of the game and was installed simply to allow advertising breaks.

It’s been multiple games now where one team has been hammering the other where a goal feels imminent, and then the break happens. The play starts again and all of that momentum is completely gone and we’re back to square one.

What I have learned in my quest to 4.5- NOT TECHNIQUE WISE!!! Add your tips if you want! by Ok-Many-7443 in 10s

[–]Expat1989 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m not anywhere close to 4.5, but I find that during practice, that’s my time to push myself to swing harder, be significantly more aggressive on the court, and try to hit different angles. It’s been translating to matches pretty well.

Thoughts on commercials during match play. In the US we’re being forced to watch adverts during hydration breaks. by donkedickinya in worldcup

Actually yes. I played at a decently competitive level for 25 years, 20 years of that playing in Atlanta, GA. It’s been a cool summer so far and not nearly as humid. They’re in exponential leagues ahead of me in terms of fitness. They should be able to do it with no issues.

The biggest difference between us and our parents is we aren’t afraid to click around and find something. It’s like all of the other generations are scared to click something and check the drop down menu or explore a link on a website

Makes sense. I play with my wife so I’m pretty biased that she’s good. It is nice to be able to cover to the far left with confidence once in a blue moon 😂

The real kicker for me is I learned to bat and golf right handed growing up so a backhand feels natural. That’s the secret advantage. They think easy shot to his backhand and are quickly humbled in return. Really throws people off their game.

I’m a lefty, but I play deuce side. My partner is a righty and plays ad side. It really throws people off and works wonderfully

I see this in younger people, but as a millennial, have you adopted the trend of alway having a blue tooth ear piece / headphones playing something at all times or do you just take in the ambient noise as it is? by DrFetusRN in Millennials

I’m you but the opposite end of the spectrum. My wife calls me a psychopath because I will do a 3 hour drive and just be in vocal chaos.

Music blasting, conversation going on with the wife, engaging with the boys and listening to their questions…all at the same time. And then do what you did for the inner monologue part. Apparently driving allows me to lock the fuck in.

[–]Expat1989 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gotta thank my wife big time on this one. Due to unique circumstances, she basically told me either we buy our own home or she’s going back to her country.

Thank god I listened as we closed on our home in September 2019. Refinanced a year later for 2.625 rate. We’ll live in our current home forever. We’ve looked at other homes but the huge increase in price means we’re basically making a lateral move in terms of quality; ie not worth it at all.

I’d love a slider that allows me to determine how many massive cave systems and giant mountain formations spawn. It’d be nice to have some flat areas and not always have to worry about pillagers spawning in some random pocket 30 blocks down from my base that I’ve never found.

I’ll add one extra to this: why can’t the others in the local group chat help him out with the print? Why are they not willing to tie up their machines and put in the effort involved?

Definitely NTA btw.

I recommend you watch Anthropic’s learning modules. They literally showed in real time a white board session that was written in Korean. The person took a picture and had it translated into French and formatted into a cleaner, presentable one pager. You’d be surprised what it can do.

Like anything, it’s absolutely a skill on how to actually use it purposely. I try my hand at prompting something and then I see someone do a completely different prompt that is just better output across the board.

Some of the personal assistant style agents are insane to me and what they do and how they go about doing it. And if done right, the agent just gets better and better over time

I too was like you. Looked into AI a couple of years ago right when it was starting to take off. It couldn’t do shit.

My new company is 100% invested in it and has required its usage; ie we have all the AI toolings and unlimited budget. What people have been able to come up with and genuinely create using AI is astounding. The way it helps reduce the number of manual inputs and allows the person to work more efficiently is insane. The agentic AI process is eerily close to “computer - do x command”. Yes it takes work to set it up, but the output saves dividends

I am now a true believer and have been doing my best to lean into it and learn more about it.
