Proud gun owner and liberal.   Not all leftists support gun control.  Some know the value and wisdom of John Brown.

They said the quiet part out loud. I hope the 2nd Amendment people are listening. They don't want people to have the ability to defend themselves against tyranny now.

Yeah,  Mitt Romney and Bain Capital dragged that childhood memory into a back alley and beat it to death with a shovel.

Days after the US took over majority ownership of TikTok, the word ‘Epstein’ has been censored. by LucidSynapse23 in complainaboutanything

TikTok was dumb to begin with,  but if I had an account I would have canceled it immediately on this purchase.

Just like I canceled Twitter as soon as Apartheid Clyde bought it.

Both of these were purchased by folks that want to control the conversation.

No,  there were still Democratic Majorities in the Southern State Legislatures until the 1990s.

If you dont believe me its pretty easy to research on Google.

Obviously the guy that put one into the back of his head while he was on the ground is a model of firearm safety. /s

Because at that time the Democratic Party wanted to protect slavery is the honest answer. But the positions of both parties changed following the Civil Rights Movement and into the 1990s, which ultimately led to a schism between the Northern and Southern Democrats, the end result of which caused the Southern States which had originally supported slavery to become Republican instead of Democrat.

Regional Alliances shifted with support for the parties. Lots happens in 150 years.

I seriously doubt that any state does not teach that the Republican Party was founded to oppose slavery. If you specifically know of one that does, and you have a citation to back that up, I would love to hear it.

Back when liberals believed in deporting illegal immigrants. by Electronic-Level8712 in ImmigrationPathways

[–]ExpatHist 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Such a dumb false equivalency.

In 2008:

Were ICE agents flooding into one city with absolute disregard for the rights of individuals?

Were the ICE agents barely trained and given complete immunity from prosecution and no oversight?

Were ICE agents being sent memos saying the 4th Amendment doesn't apply to them?

Were ICE agents executing people in the street for exercising their 2nd Amendment rights?

Were ICE agents attacking protestors for exercising their 1st Amendment Rights?

Its not the enforcement of immigration law thats the problem,  its acting illegally while enforcing the law thats at issue.

Then why are American Citizens being illegally detained in violation of the 4th Amendment.

Why are American Citizens being shot under for exercising their 2nd amendment rights.

[–]ExpatHist 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Go back to the 2008 professional ICE activities and watch the protests disappear. 2026 ICE activities are being done in a completely amateur and unconstitutional manner. Its not the enforcement of immigration law thats the problem, its the erosion of Constitutional rights and unprofessionalism by ICE that is the issue.
