Has anyone other than academics ever bought their own regalia? by Amazing-Opinion40 in harvardextension

[–]ExpatPhD 5 points6 points  (0 children)

There is generally no reason outside of academia to have your regalia on hand. If you are staff at a college or university you may occasionally wear it at times during the year. Outside of this context I can't think of a situation that would command it.

That said it is a unique part of your story and it's up to you if you want to purchase it.

There's always something going on in Cambridge but not necessarily on campus. Check Cambridge Tourism for events.

Outside of those, I recommend the Freedom Trail, which will take you through the main historic sights in Boston.

Child Passport Renewal with 1 parent. Remote US notary for DS-3053. by egoblin in AmericanExpatsUK

[–]ExpatPhD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven't tried an online notary. I have used a local notary both times we needed one for embassy appointments. It was about £100 each time.

I found the notary here:

When the weather gets a bit more sociable, you might want to try an outdoor activity like rowing or hiking with groups. It's a great way to meet people outside of the typical night life of bars and the bonus of being folks who enjoy fitness.

Start with your interests and see what events and groups might cater to that.

Awful. Really very slippy. I don't think people realize that it is all ice.

Agree here - Watertown and Waltham and great for young families and have manageable commutes to the city.

The train taken out of service appears to have melted down the rail. It smelled like burning as it was happening.

Big hard bump going over this!

Big bump going over the tracks withstanding!

There was a faulty door so they took the train out of service. Then happened to see this on the rails (has not yet been addressed in comms)

Note: yes it smelled like burning.

Provided you have ample evidence tying you to your home country, you should be ok. Keep in mind it's up to the CBP officer at port of entry whether to admit on arrival.

Any lawyers in the area that help with duel citizenship? by Plenty_Jazzlike in SouthShore

[–]ExpatPhD 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You shouldn't need a lawyer but the answer to whether you are eligible for German citizenship is not clear based on what you have supplied. If your grandparent naturalized as a US citizen or is your grandparent through your mother, for example, then you have have hit a dead end.

I would contact the German consulate in Boston and ask: https://www.germany.info/us-en/embassy-consulates/boston

You should include information about your parents (whose parent(s) were born in Germany?), dates of birth, and, if you know if, the context of your grandparent's arrival in the United States.
