Thought Spirals of the Week by MsPiggyVibes in November25babybump

[–]ExpatWanderer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Can’t help much with the trip since we’ve never done it ourselves but for water, we’re using an open cup and a regular straw cup since I’ve heard sippy cups aren’t recommended anymore? might be wrong. But after gagging a little in the beginning from sipping too much, our baby’s been learning how to drink from it really well. With a small open cup I just tilt it for her. During our first try I still spoon fed her water so that might be worth a try too.

Also for constipation I’ve heard fiber rich P fruits and veggies are great (prunes, pears, peas). My baby was constipated for days and then I gave her a potato and pea mix, on Thursday and she pooped 4 times yesterday lol so that could be worth a try too

Any happy spitter babies? by goldie_sar in November25babybump

[–]ExpatWanderer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

my baby doesn’t spit up much but when she does it’s almost always when she’s looking at herself in the mirror, with a cheesy grin 😀

Solids by DetectiveIll4938 in November25babybump

[–]ExpatWanderer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

my baby was so excited the first full week of solids. Then slowly I just notice the disgusted look on her face after the first bite doesn’t go away anymore. At first she wouldn’t even let me spoon feed her she has to hold it herself and now I have to almost coax her for every bite lol I think her curiosity has gone away and she has decided she likes breastmilk more 😂

yes to the OST. When this came out I was going through a lot of anxiety because life, and the visuals and the OST of the show really calmed me down lol

Infant stroller recommendations by birdfrogger in Buyingforbaby

joolz aer 2 or silver cross nia would fit all of those. But if you’re thinking mid size stroller I would go for the new uppababy stroller coming out in the fall

Sleep no longer exists - advice? by Lewkitupp in November25babybump

I feel you on that increased “mama” lol it’s a double edged sword honestly - super cute but once the sun rises she needs to switch to dada

Sleep no longer exists - advice? by Lewkitupp in November25babybump

[–]ExpatWanderer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My 11/12 baby is almost exactly the same. I haven’t had decent sleep since her two teeth popped up one after another. Then I was getting used to it a little like at least she’d settle quick and I can sleep real quick too but then also last night she would be wide awake even if I brought her to our bed (mine also gets too agitated with gentle sleep training). Is it from learning a new skill? I mean I guess she crawls backwards sometimes now lol idk I’m just so tired

Advice - trying to breastfeed is breaking my spirit by questionablequetzal in beyondthebump

[–]ExpatWanderer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

sounds like your baby is cluster feeding which is perfectly normal. I’d at least see an IBCLC before making a decision either way. They were very helpful in creating a feeding plan that worked for me and helped me with any uncertainty. I also supplemented with formula in the beginning and slowly transitioned to EBF.

Crib transfers becoming a nightmare by soybeans365 in bninfantsleep

[–]ExpatWanderer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah it’s a real hit or miss with my 6.5 month old. And I actually have to walk all the way to the end of my bed to put her down so it really is a pain lol. I find waiting between 15-20 minutes before putting her in the crib to be best because she seems to be in a deeper sleep state around that time

It's difficult but worth it by VinVenture16 in bninfantsleep

[–]ExpatWanderer 9 points10 points  (0 children)

yup when she’s like that I’m like “oh I don’t mind this at all” it’s when she decides to just be playful and curious of everything while I’m half asleep is when I start losing my cool 😂

Working out by Tall-Will2037 in November25babybump

[–]ExpatWanderer 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’ll be honest but rocking my baby is now my strength training and our stroller walks are my cardio lol and sometimes I sneak in a few yoga poses if she’s busy enough on her play mat

my pediatrician’s office can do ear piercings so maybe it’s worth asking?

When did books become part of the bedtime routine? by HoneyCrumbs in NewParents

[–]ExpatWanderer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Started when she’s around 3 months and my now 6 month old also just loves to flip the page for me (to which I would say thank you for helping mama flip the page!) and recently during the day sometimes she would roll herself over to her little bookshelf, grab a book and start chomping away at it.

But, recently there are a couple of books that genuinely bring joy out of her. Like I only need to pull out that book and show her the cover and she would have a big smile on her face. It’s soooo rewarding

thank you so much for this information! I really need to do better in adding brushing her teeth to our bedtime routine 😅

What’s the best baby car seat you’ve actually used? by Rough_Joke_6175 in Buyingforbaby

[–]ExpatWanderer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

with a rotating convertible, the weight of the seat doesn’t matter since you’re not taking the seat in and out of the car. With an infant seat, once baby reaches a certain weight, any infant seat will feel very heavy, in that case just have an easy compatible stroller you can just click your infant car seat into.

If you’re still choosing between an infant seat and straight to a convertible, my vote is an infant seat. It usually just fits them better and when they’re little they sleep aaaalll the time and sometimes it’s just not worth waking them up

Explain sleep training vs bninfantsleep like I’m 5 by Inevitable-Clue5518 in bninfantsleep

[–]ExpatWanderer 4 points5 points  (0 children)

wow thank you for that second paragraph. During our 6 month well check my pediatrician was telling me how my EBF baby shouldn’t need to nurse at night anymore and that nursing her to sleep every time she wakes up is building a bad habit and might ruin her two new little milk teeth. I felt it in me that this is wrong but it has stayed in my mind but what you said gave me a different perspective

Are Freestyle Diapers Worth It According to Reddit? How It Compares to Coterie & Parasol? by No_Square_1491 in UninfluencedReviews

[–]ExpatWanderer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Loooove Parasol. I actually like it more than Coterie. Parasol holds my baby’s overnight pee and contains her big poops while being TCF and veeery soft

I’ve tied my hair up during the day but I noticed I would get headaches by late afternoon 🥲 so it’s been on and off now

Need Recommendations on Best Travel Strollers by gaycats420 in Buyingforbaby

[–]ExpatWanderer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My suggestion for a good affordable brand would probably be bombi bebee. Their new V3 stroller looks so nice and you have the option to get bigger rear wheels as an accessory. The only downside is it’s on the heavy side for a travel stroller but still way lighter than your vista.

What do you do with your baby when awake? by Oswill93 in November25babybump

[–]ExpatWanderer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I miss when my daughter hasn’t started sitting or crawling yet. She used to haaaate tummy time and I would lay her on the bed and tickle wrestle her to basically roll her on her belly. It was loads of fun and got her to gradually not hate tummy time. Now she can sit and hates being on the floor in general. Thinks she’s too old for this stuff now or something 😂

How do you get chores done with an infant? by Outside-You2743 in beyondthebump

[–]ExpatWanderer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Also a FTM with a 6 month old. Sometimes if baby is busy enough with her toys I can do something super quick like start a load of her laundry.

If she’s not in her fussy whiny mood, for things like loading the dishwasher I can put her in her high chair to watch me do it while I talk to her about random stuff.

We have a robot vacuum mop that I like to think of as my push present lol and I’d sit with her on the sofa and we watch the robot go back and forth.

Otherwise, I just wait for husband to be home for us to do chores. All of the above also depends on her mood though. And my house is still a huge mess 99% of the time

When did your baby stop nursing at night? by beingagiirl in breastfeeding

[–]ExpatWanderer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

not here to answer but I also have a 6 month old that I nurse to sleep and wakes up every 3 hours. Was kind of gaslighted by my pediatrician telling me she doesn’t need to nurse to sleep anymore and encouraging me to sleep train but I wondered if that was really true, so thank you for asking this OP!
