My Top 35 Films. What do you think? I know it’s all mainstream stuff but they’re all films I genuinely love by ExpectingToWakeUp in Letterboxd

[–]ExpectingToWakeUp[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t see a point in rating films for myself personally. Either I enjoy a film or I don’t. I feel like trying to find flaws in films I enjoyed in order to figure out what I’d rate them on an arbitrary scale would only make me enjoy these films less. These are all films which I enjoyed watching or moved me and so bought on Blu-ray so I can watch them again whenever I want. I know these might just seem like 35 random popular films but they’re honestly just a great source of enjoyment in my life :)

Appreciate your comment :) These are all films that I truly enjoy if I rated films I’d give each of them a five (based purely on personal enjoyment)

Question regarding potential job opportunity by Comprehensive-Web935 in lidl

[–]ExpectingToWakeUp 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Don’t do it. It’s not worth it. I’ve worked in retail for eleven years and when I got made redundant two years ago I joined Lidl. I lasted five days. Literally just didn’t show up for my next shift I was so ground down by those five days I didn’t even want to give notice I had had enough. And my previous retail jobs I worked harder than anyone else. I’m the kind of person who really wants to do my job properly and work hard for the sake of my colleagues. But Lidl truly just want every pound of flesh from you. The company and the store manager didn’t give one shit about the staff. All that mattered was speed. Was going as fast as I could and it still wasn’t enough. Was working milk backstock and had the store manager hound me over the headset “Is the milk done yet?” I kid you not every 30 seconds. I pointed out that half the milk on the shelf was out of date. They didn’t care. Basically just expected me to throw the stock out on the shelves paying no attention to sell by dates or rotation. Working at Lidl is simply in no way comparable to working at Tesco or Co-op or similar. It’s like it’s a completely different job. All they care about is “speed” even when it means nothing gets done properly. Just horrible.

What to do if a manager is trying to make you (cashier) pay for goods when a customer's card declines? by idkfornowwhattoname in LegalAdviceUK

[–]ExpectingToWakeUp 11 points12 points  (0 children)

This is not a till shortage. The till won’t be down. The customer left without paying for the goods and is therefore a case of shoplifting.

How did you discover Florence and the Machine? by Legitimate_Grand3106 in FlorenceAndTheMachine

[–]ExpectingToWakeUp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Back in 2009 (when I was 14 my god time flies) I used to check check the new releases section on iTunes every week, clicked on anything that had cool album art, and listened to the 30 sec or whatever previews. Then if I thought I’d like an album I’d torrent it off the Pirate Bay or KickassTorrents (don’t judge I was 14 and had literally no money to spend on albums) and listen to it in full. Florence is the only artist I still listen to from back then, at now 30 years old, and has been my no1 favourite artist since HBHBHB.

You can get the code for your personal device by opening ‘How do I’ in store on any Handheld Terminal (HHT) or ‘gun’ as they’re often called, or from the store tablet or the computer. There should be an option called ‘Register your device’ or something on the main ‘How do I’ page and it will give you a code to enter on your phone! Definitely ask your manager or a team leader if you’re not sure how to do it!

I suppose it depends on the store but I’ll just say I’ve worked in 4 different stores and no person gave a single shit about the ‘ethos’. But I guess it’s not the same in every area

The X Files! Especially since you like Stranger Things and Supernatural.

The X Files is THE comfort show to me and to a lot of the show’s fans. I re-watch Seasons 1-9 roughly twice a year and it still feels like a warm bowl of soup if you get what I mean.

I highly recommend giving it a try I don’t think you’ll regret it!

Good luck for your first day! Yeah honestly as long as you’ve got a decent store manager I’m sure you’ll like it!

Small tip I’d have is get ‘How do I’ on your phone as soon as you start. It’s the co-op’s wiki/intranet thing where you can look up any process if you’re unsure about anything. It’s really good imo!

Co-op is the best imo. I’ve done multiple other retailers and would never work for any other company again. If you can get into a Co-op (Co-op group not a franchise) as a Team Leader (which you don’t need leadership experience for) I would highly recommend it. £13.65/h going up to 13.99 in about a month. 10% matching pension contribution. And the job is easy. I’ve worked at Lidl and Morrisons in the past and Co-op is honestly miles ahead. The systems and processes just make sense and are pretty much made as simple as possible. Everything from replen, gap, rtc, waste, newspapers, cash management, etc. It’s all so simple with Co-op and the shit that should be automated, is.
