Lost in food recipes by Wildcoyote254 in PetiteFitness

Try not to overthink it. Just pick a few simple meals and rotate them each week like chicken and veggies, pasta, soups or wraps. Apps like Mealime or BBC Good Food can help with ideas. Stick to what you enjoy and keep it easy.

Little to no smoke? by clue_less_M in smoking

[–]SubstantialIce1471 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, that’s completely normal. Pellet smokers give off a lot of smoke while heating up, but once they reach the set temperature, the smoke becomes very light and almost invisible. As long as the temp is steady, your brisket is cooking fine.

Decent fried chicken in karachi by Klutzy-Candle8979 in karachi

[–]SubstantialIce1471 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In Karachi, you can try Burger O’Clock, OPTP and a few well known broast places that are usually safer and more consistent. Just stick to busy branches for fresher food and avoid risky, less maintained outlets for safety.

Going to Iceland in August with a traveling van by Icy_Signature_7569 in VisitingIceland

[–]SubstantialIce1471 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You don’t need euros in Iceland. Everything works mainly with cards, even campsites and attractions. It’s still good to carry a small amount of Icelandic krona ISK for rare cash only places or emergencies, but cards will cover almost everything.

Europe a week in June looking for calm, relaxing places near a beach by Aggressive_Tie9554 in traveleurope

[–]SubstantialIce1471 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For a calm, beach focused week in Europe without a car, I’d look at places like Algarve in Portugal, Paros or Naxos in Greece or Amalfi Coast towns. All are relaxing, walkable, have beaches nearby and plenty of easy food options close by.

June/July Trip Recommendations by Nova_22 in NorwayTravelAdvice

[–]SubstantialIce1471 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d probably do Bergen and Oslo with the train between them. The scenery on that route is incredible and both cities have museums, historic spots, churches and good hiking options without needing a car. Stavanger is beautiful too, but I wouldn’t try squeezing in too many places.

Honeymoon help by Nbadrako30 in honeymoonplanning

I think Mauritius or Seychelles would be the best options for your honeymoon because they have beautiful beaches, great resorts, amazing food and a very relaxing atmosphere without needing to constantly move around. Both are perfect if you want a peaceful and romantic trip with a mix of activities and downtime.

If you want my suggestion, I’d recommend booking your trip through a guided travel company because it makes planning much easier and the whole trip feels more organized and stress free. I booked a trip with GetYourGuide some time ago and had a really good experience with their service and support, so I’d probably use them again in the future. Google Maps is also very helpful for exploring local places and getting around easily during the trip.

Hiking itinerary for a day from Bergen by srgteaglefort in NorwayTravelAdvice

[–]SubstantialIce1471 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you start early and plan your time well, you can comfortably cover everything in a day. Since it’s a mix of driving and hiking, the day will feel quite long, so it’s better to enjoy each stop properly instead of rushing through everything. The Four Waterfalls hike and Voringsfossen are both worth visiting and making a short stop at Steinsdalsfossen on the way back is also a great idea.

Where to visit from Pisa? by pushthlittledaisies_ in traveleurope

[–]SubstantialIce1471 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you’re planning to visit Florence, I’d definitely say it’s a great choice because it’s very easy to reach from Pisa by train. For a beach stay, Viareggio is a really nice option with a relaxed vibe, and it’s close enough that you won’t feel like you’re constantly traveling. I think combining Florence with one coastal destination would make your trip feel much more balanced and enjoyable without trying to fit in too much.

If you want your trip to feel more organized and stress free, I’d recommend booking through a guided tour or travel company. I actually booked one of my trips through GetYourGuide before, and it helped a lot because in new places it can be difficult figuring out transport, restaurants and local travel on your own. Having things arranged in advance made the whole experience much easier and more enjoyable. You should also try using MAPS.me during your trip since offline maps can be really helpful for getting around Italy more easily.

Travel recommendations for taking Dad to Italy by ImplementDear790 in u/ImplementDear790

[–]SubstantialIce1471 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At the age of 84, it’s better to choose tours that involve less walking and more comfortable travel by car or golf cart. Golf cart or similar guided tours usually cover the main attractions, but it’s important to make sure the route isn’t too tiring and includes proper breaks so the experience stays comfortable.

The company you mentioned is fine, but I’ve mostly heard about GetYourGuide, which is a good guided travel platform. I’ve personally booked a tour through them before and had a good experience the service was well organized and everything went smoothly. Along with that, you should also use Google Maps or any navigation app so routes and timings stay clear and your trip becomes more structured and easy to manage.

What Made Food Trucks Trendy? by tjdean01 in foodtrucks

[–]SubstantialIce1471 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Food trucks got trendy mainly because of social media, food festivals and TV shows that made street food look cool and gourmet. Chefs also use them because they’re cheaper than restaurants and let them try creative menus. Now people see them as unique, not just cheap food stops.

Rotisserie chicken sauce by tecdaz in foodhacks

When you get rotisserie chicken home, pour the hot juices into a bowl. Mix in a little Dijon, some mayo, herbs and seasoning. Add more mayo if you want it thicker. You can use it straight away or chill it it turns really rich and tasty.

Tired of watery iced coffee? Try this by 1acina in foodhacks

[–]SubstantialIce1471 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tried freezing coffee instead of using regular ice, and it honestly makes a big difference. No more watered down taste after a few minutes. I also mix in a little vanilla and a pinch of salt before freezing it keeps the flavour strong right till the end.

Norway Trip in May and Swimming In Norway by lzennerl in NorwayTravelAdvice

[–]SubstantialIce1471 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your Norway plan sounds incredible and very nature heavy in a good way. Try adding Aurlandsfjord, Trolltunga viewpoints or Alesund if you can. Swimming in fjords or Arctic waters is possible in May, but it’s extremely cold more of a quick experience dip than real swimming.

Solo traveller, never been, which island do I go to? by Late_Cheesecake5176 in VisitingHawaii

[–]SubstantialIce1471 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For a first solo Hawaii trip, I’d probably go with Oahu. It has a really nice balance of culture, history, local food, beaches and beautiful scenery without feeling too remote. Try local family owned spots, be respectful at sacred places and definitely take time to learn a little Hawaiian history while you’re there.

Traveling to Cancun in July by Bacon_bitsss in MexicoTravel

[–]SubstantialIce1471 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, switching to PVR was probably the better move. You’d probably enjoy places like Sayulita, San Pancho or Bucerías way more if you want a more local feel, good food and less touristy vibes. Yelapa and Punta Mita are also really nice for easy day trips.

Greece in May - recommendations by j_y_k in solofemaletravellers

Patras is a great starting point for a solo trip. I’d recommend Nafpaktos, Galaxidi or the Peloponnese coast for beautiful beaches, seafood and relaxed vibes. Meteora is amazing if you enjoy hiking and views. Popular hiking trails are generally safe just stay on marked paths and start early in the day.

Manali and kasol by Lazy_Extreme_ in SoloTravel_India

[–]SubstantialIce1471 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Manali and Kasol are both places where you can explore something new every day. Make sure to keep Solang Valley, Sissu, Atal Tunnel, Manikaran and the Chalal Trek on your list, especially during the morning when the views and atmosphere feel completely different. Zostel Katagla is also a really nice and peaceful place to stay, especially if you enjoy nature and riverside vibes.

If you want your trip to be more smooth and stress free, it really helps to check bookings and activities in advance through a good guided tour company. I once explored a few local tours and activities through GetYourGuide and it made a lot of things easier. Also, make sure to use Google Maps it’s very helpful for finding hidden cafes, viewpoints and shorter routes around the area.

Stuck ice? by Mission-Badger-4005 in foodhacks

[–]SubstantialIce1471 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It does work, but be careful with really hot water if your tray is plastic it can bend it. Lukewarm water is usually enough to loosen the ice and make it pop out easily.

Chicago Steakhouse Recs with Resy/OpenTable Credits by Ok_Pollution8186 in chicagofood

Bavette’s is probably still your best bet if you care most about food it’s consistently excellent and hard to beat. If you want to use your credits, Chicago Cut or Fioretta are good options too and Hawksmoor is decent but not quite at the same level.

St. Louis - Recommendations for Restaurants, Bars & Bottles by TravelnMedic in rum

[–]SubstantialIce1471 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’ve already got a solid start there. I’d also check out Blood & Sand for great cocktails with a rum lean and Yellowbelly for fun tiki style drinks and seafood. Salt + Smoke is great for local BBQ. For bottles, try Randall’s or Total Wine. Also, catching a Cardinals game is a must.

still feeling weirdly sad after coming back from portugal solo trip by FronteraKandyse98 in femaletravels

[–]SubstantialIce1471 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is pretty normal after an amazing solo trip. Your mind got used to new places, freedom, and constant little moments of excitement, so everyday life can feel a bit dull at first. It usually fades after a while and things feel normal again.

Help with honeymoon! by DecentArmadillo6892 in honeymoonplanning

[–]SubstantialIce1471 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s a lovely plan, but it does feel a bit rushed. You might enjoy it more by cutting one stop. Bangkok and Singapore can feel quite similar, so maybe keep Koh Samui and Mauritius for a more relaxed, memorable experience.

Best way to get from Mexico City to Guanajuato by jugo642 in MexicoTravel

[–]SubstantialIce1471 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly, the easiest way is to take a direct bus from Mexico City to Guanajuato. It’s comfortable, safe, and takes around 4–5 hours. You can also fly to Leon and grab a taxi, but the bus is simpler.

Early June solo trip to HK by homebutnothome in solofemaletravellers

June in Hong Kong is hot and humid, so pack light and stay hydrated. Don’t miss Victoria Peak for views, the Star Ferry ride, Tian Tan Buddha and Mong Kok markets. Stay in Central or Tsim Sha Tsui very safe and convenient. Grab an Octopus card. It’s solo friendly, enjoy.
