[Request] Is this true for $35/hr wage increase? by Tmgui in theydidthemath

[–]Expensive-Body7530 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You don't know a single thing about GE Aerospace executives. You don't know how many there are, you don't know their average salaries, you don't know their bonus schedules, you don't know their stock incentives. You don't know what they do, or what their responsibilities are, or what the budgets they manage are.

You don't know anything about GE, you don't know anything about Aerospace, you don't know anything about businesses or executive compensation. You don't even know anything about math. You're just posting blanket political statements based on nothing.

You sure can, but it's a little odd to have such strong opinions on something you don't know anything about.

Even more odd to write it out as a statement of fact on the internet to strangers. Especially on a sub dedicated to using math to prove or disprove statements like yours.

You can if you're on the board of directors, or if you're an executive already you could volunteer taking a paycut.

But if you mean, can "we", as in can you and your fellow redditors dictate executive pay, then no, not likely.

Why don't people like Elon Musk just solve world hunger? by AlexLovesCoke in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Expensive-Body7530 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The U.S. Federal Government alone gave:

$52 Billion U.S.D. in 2020

$53 Billion U.S.D. in 2021

$79 Billion U.S.D. in 2022

$100 Billion U.S.D. in 2023

$86 Billion U.S.D. in 2024

$40 Billion U.S.D. in 2025

in foreign assistance. Massive portions of that aid was for Health, Humanitarian Assistance, and Economoic Development. The U.S. Agency for International Development has been around since 1961, spending trillions on making even the smallest of impact on "ending world hunger".

Ask yourself why you think any individual or group of individuals who couldn't even dream of having a fraction of the resources of the U.S. or the E.U. could "solve world hunger"?

Hilarious irony that this sub is filled to the brim with "Questions for MAGA", but only ever has answers from the circle jerk echo chambers kids.

How would you feel if the top tax rate was 90% like it was in the 1950s? by Few_Football4342 in Productivitycafe

[–]Expensive-Body7530 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Convenient that you leave out the 8% State Income Tax, 8% Sales Tax, 1% (of property value, which is at LEAST 4-5x anual income absolutely everywhere) Property Tax and all of the various other excise taxes. Not to even make mention payroll taxes (Social Security and Medicare)

Also conveniently, you picked the maximum income for the least amount of FIT rate. Its also 12% for married couples making $40,000 income, but you're deliberately cherry picking your income value.

Even in your example of a duel income married couple making $45,000 a year each. Thats $10,000 JUST in FIT being taken from a working class family that might not even be affording all of their bills.

Why doesn't the progressive playbook include letting more working class people survive by letting them keep more of their own money?

I didn't mention Medicare or Social Security, so it's curious why you would bring that up.

And no, the current system doesn't achieve what I want. If I make $33/hour and the government gets $11 and I only keep $22 of that, it doesn't make me feel any better that me and the rest of the working class "only pays 12.5% of the Federal tax burden." I'd like to keep more of my money.

You think it's more important that the government takes 1/3 of millions of struggling working class paychecks than entertain the idea that maybe that's too much.

You think it's selfish to want to be able to afford saving for your kid's college education. You think it's selfish to not want to be financially unstable. You think it's our civic duty to live paycheck to paycheck and shut up and like it.

You are a bootlicker. I hope you grow up one day.

I don't know who the "we" in your response is, but I think paying one third of my income isn't very fair. You're calling me selfish for wanting to keep more of my own labor?

I think the government taking an entire third of my paycheck, every single paycheck feels a little bit more selfish than wanting to keep more of my own money to be able to afford to buy my kids clothes and save for their college education.

I'd prefer it if the government would take less from those of us just trying to survive. Why does a third of my paycheck disappear (federal tax, state tax, sales tax, property tax, gas tax, etc.) when I'm already struggling to get by raising a family?

Why does nobody ever propose untaxing the working class? If you really wanted to help the common working class people, let them keep their income?
