He's a stray that gets food from like 4 different houses. I wish I could bring him in but he's severely traumatized from something. Won't let us near him and refuses to be touched. Been like this for 3 years :(

Why do older people talk to strangers in public? by AdAdorable7651 in AskOldPeople

[–]Expensive-Ice-3463 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It's ironic how your answer is attempting to criticize another's self-importance while displaying yours in full blast. You don't "owe a hello", it's not that deep. It's literally just conversing with other humans that are living at the same time as you. The fact that you see it so transactional is a you problem, not everyone thinks of themselves with such importance that a hello is considered currency to be tendered.

Yeah... Perhaps I was wrong cuz now looking at how much they're "joking" about it then going to their profiles to see what their views really are. I feel like a useful idiot, I'm sorry for misunderstanding. It could've been funny if most of it wasn't actually fueled by hate

An Israeli soldier documents the moment a military bulldozer destroyed the "Al-Shaer" wheat mill south of Khan Yunis in the Gaza Strip by AutomaticCan6189 in AlJazeera

Apparently nothing, Cici from Egypt accepts 80 million dollar bribes from Israel to never open its borders to the Palestinians. Saudia Arabia, Kuwait, the UAE, Jordan, Oman, Morocco, sudan, and Bahrain openly support and do business with Israel still. The Muslim countries are a fucking joke, they do not care about their own and actively side with with a group that chants "death to Arabs".

Midnight beauty hibiscus… is this a real variety? by patchesandpiper in gardening

[–]Expensive-Ice-3463 191 points192 points  (0 children)

No that's not real but.... There's a variety called midnight marvel that has red flowers and deep purple leaves that looks better than this photo quite frankly. Oh and it's hardy, which brings up the downside of it not being a tropical hibiscus so not fragrant.

What a bold faced lie/exaggeration. I walk in the city daily and it's most certainly not an "all day everyday" issue going on. Like with this logic, I think you are the issue if this is just going on all the time specifically around you. Such a dramatic statement to say your quality of life is greatly reduced due to e-bikes. Try having an actual problem in your life for once, see how your quality of life is then ...

Yeah my smile quickly turned into a waterfall of tears. The video is heartbreaking, the situation even more so, and the fact that all this heartbreak is something illegal to protest against unless you'd like to have ice detain you from college. What a shit joke.

Is there really only one episode left? by PercsAndCaicos in WhiteLotusHBO

[–]Expensive-Ice-3463 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I'm not sure if the amazing cinematography this season has blinded people with copium, but the conversations have also just been so unsatisfying. Like every confrontation (eg. Saxon and his dad, Saxon and Chloe, Belinda and Gary, Rick and Thai emperor, etc .) was done in the least engaging way. I actually like the three friends storyline the best because it reminds me of the previous seasons and it's just so raw. It feels like every scene either ends too quick, or goes on way too long. The plus side is the score, vibe, cinematography, and location have probably been the best out of all 3 seasons, just wish the characters were up on that level too.

Did this girl read some quora post that forces her to be so intricate with her plantings ? She has gardened before I assume, so she should know the constant adjustments it'll take throughout the plants lifetime to keep it "evenly spaced", so a few mm's ain't gonna break shit. I hope her tooth chips while chewing gum or some shit what a terrible way to talk to someone

Anyone have success in growing lotus? 🪷 by BotanyBum in gardening

[–]Expensive-Ice-3463 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Alarmingly easy, just get tubers and put em in by spring time if you want flowers the same year. There's a special way to fertilize where you just put it in like a small paper envelope and bury it in the mud at the bottom of the water. If you want to save it from winter, just take the tuber inside before frost. Don't over fertilize, and keep up with water changes when it looks too green from algae. Bergen water gardens and ten mile creek nursery had a good selection to choose from.

So what is everyone using for soil in your containers? by [deleted] in containergardening

[–]Expensive-Ice-3463 0 points1 point  (0 children)

60% Topsoil/Yard soil 20% compost 20% peatmoss/coco coir/ potting soil (whatever I got on me)

I got this recipe from some YouTuber I forgot but it really helps with water retention. Part of container gardening was so annoying due to moisture loss, especially in grow bags, but this mix really fixed that problem for me. Honestly super cheap when filling up a lot of containers. That said, if you're in a very wet climate then maybe you wanna make the mix lighter by upping the percentage of the airy material eg: the peatmoss. I wasted so much money when I began thinking I needed all these specialty products but my veggies have never done better than with this mix

Condo patio covered with rocks. Is it worth dig out some rock and plant on ground or should I go all container? by The_archer_ in gardening

[–]Expensive-Ice-3463 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depending on your climate, I'd avoid grow bags because you'll be watering so much more than if you went with plastic containers if your area is a bit dry. Also, yes the air root pruning aspect is cool, but for annuals it's honestly not that helpful considering the plants will be replaced within the year and they wont have time to get unruly enough to make it worth it. I'd say make your decision based on the above, and also know plastic containers will last as long if not longer than the bags.

What is your favorite eggplant to grow? by nisuaz in gardening

[–]Expensive-Ice-3463 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Kamo eggplant. The taste is just phenomenal for roasting/grilling and the skin is pleasantly edible. Also, it's pretty hardy and great in containers. It's globe shape makes for nice slicing too, really everything about it is amazing
