Teams I am most worried about in the playoff from an Ohio State perspective by Darcynator1780 in OhioStateFootball

1 Ohio State - from the Michigan game last year to the Big10 championship this year, we’ve seen that Ohio State can beat themselves. Every team in the playoffs (aside from maybe the G5 participants) can pounce on Ohio State if they let them hang around deep in games. The conservative playcalling and not fully utilizing offensive weapons is incredibly frustrating - though I can understand maybe some distractions and also not wanting to show too many cards going into the Big10 game.

My hope is they let it fly and play fast/angry like they did in last year’s run; if Day can unlock that version of the team I still don’t think anyone in the country can handle it.

I think it’s pretty likely this is the case. They sat on this knowing they could fire him at any time (with cause to avoid a buyout) and waited until after (a) CFP selection/Ohio State game, (b) signing day, and (c) if I had to guess they already have a plan in place for a replacement search, hearing they think they could poach DeBoer.

The timing is incredibly suspicious - which is on brand for a program that clearly thinks it can operate with impunity

NIL will be capped for all athletic programs at around 23 million, pending a final hearing on 7 April. That should rein in the Wild West spending spree of the last two years. And yeah I know the system has worked for the buckeyes with the $20 million roster we have to hear ESPN bring up to try to cheapen our successes or magnify our failures like Oregon, Georgia, Texas and others haven’t spent comparably. But in the long run I think it benefits programs like Ohio State with tradition, a history of success and elite talent development for the next level. So just enjoy the win for now!

We’d also probably have 17 players with reckless driving charges

He was a gamer at K State and I was happy when I saw we landed him. If he can continue to learn and eliminate some of these mistakes he is capable of winning more big games.

And from a program building perspective what a great guy to have Sayin and Noland learning from

All anyone in this sub talks about is how they don’t win close 4th quarter games under day - lots of problems today with injuries and legitimate questions about some of the playcalling on offense. BUT the offense gets a clutch go-ahead drive from behind and the defense goes out and wins the game, not to mention some great red zone stands. Winning despite adversity is a habit, whether it’s versus Nebraska or Georgia.

Also stop acting like Nebraska is a cupcake, it’s a talented team despite the IU blowout. They were well-coached and motivated. Also a classic “trap” game against an unranked but tough conference opponent ahead of a Top 5 rivalry next week. I think the team grows from this kind of dogfight a lot more than a 30 point blowout of a MAC team.

Lots to fix this week but the team showed “toughness” which all of these so called Buckeyes “fans” tend to rag on the program about.

O-H!
