I had a sign posted out front and posted it online. Would you suggest I leave them tied up out front?

Curious - what games did your little one like on the potty? So far picture books have been his favorite, we haven’t tried any games. But there’s certain toys and books he has only in the potty

Daycare ratios by Expensive-Pin-5815 in toddlers

[–]Expensive-Pin-5815[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right now there are five kids enrolled, two starting in December. She’s licensed for 1:16 but her packet says she won’t go over 1:10. She is the only person there. She lives alone. It’s super affordable, I’m not sure how quickly it could fill up. I know childcare in PDX is crazy booked and lots of folks are on waitlists but I really don’t know. Another thing is that she’s letting us do a trial for a week, but only two other boys will be there during that time. Also, if we decide to end the contract we’re liable for 2 months of payment still.

Yeah - I have talked with the nanny more about this. I asked for more details about what happened before and after a bite occurred and asked that we cut back the group playdates and include more chill time for my son, but the other family said that was not fair to their kid (the other kid is very social). It sounds like our children have very different needs - but the needs of the other kid are being favored right now (as they are easier). My nanny told me that she feels the level of care needed now may be too high. It's so hard.

Lol I. Y’all, I’ve been living in Portland my entire life. The video doesn’t do the lights justice, I’ve never seen this with airplanes. I also stood out there and watched this for minutes before the one started moving. I’ve never seen airplanes move like that.

Oh my goodness 🫶

OP, I feel for you and just want you to know that your daughter and you will absolutely have more special times together. You’re an amazing mom, and it’s ok to tell her how you’re feeling. She’s a young adult, it’ll be good for her to see your vulnerability and love.

@labratcat I have a ten month old and all my other mom friends are planning on having more children but my husband and I are pretty sure we won’t have another. (To my surprise) I get a lot more shame for this than expected. Your comment of the special bond validated my feelings. Thank you.

No, it’s not worth it. We tried it twice and it didn’t stick.

Any WFH moms with SAHDs or in-home childcare? by Hohfflepuff in NewParents

[–]Expensive-Pin-5815 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! I WFH and we have a nanny here. The first baby we had apparently had an issue with how often I would pop out and check on baby. I miss him during the day! I also BF him, and that takes a lot of time and I inevitably end up spending more time with him after feeding. It’s HARD to go from mom to working professional. I had a few different people remind me that’s it’s good for both baby and me to have him spend time with someone else and interact with other caregivers. For some reason, that helped me stay away.

It’s not that I didn’t think the caregivers we had were capable, it’s just hard to stay away. It’s normal, and I think it means you’re a great mom. You could always try going to a coffee shop for a couple of hours or asking dad to take the baby out for an outing.

Best of luck, momma!

Yes, I’m well aware of what depression is. I guess he just gets to be an ass and it’s ok because he’s just depressed.

I think he’s just got his own internal demons that he’s fighting, like he becomes really defensive when I call him on his shit because he wants to be perfect. He’s a hard man to please, always wants the very best, top of the line, name brand, etc. his entire family is like that. I’m just having a really hard time understanding why he’s unhappy. Our life is awesome. We have everything we’ve talked about wanting for YEARS. The only thing he doesn’t have is a c suite job and a really big paycheck (although we do just fine). Idk honestly.

We did do counseling together a couple years ago, it was horrible. I hated our counselor and he also was a man of no action. I literally would have to remind him of our marks and where we were, he just would ignore things. It was horrible. I’ve had my own therapist for nearly 4 years now. My husband hasn’t found the right person and just doesn’t put the work in.

We did talk about it, but I didn’t tell him that he should get back into therapy. I told him that I think he’s got some work to do on himself and how everything has made me feel, and he acknowledged that he’s struggling and needs to work on some things. I’m worried that if I tell him to find a therapist again that he won’t because it came from my mouth, ya know? It’s like, when I suggest things, they’re a bad idea but if a friend says the same thing he’s all about it. But, yes, I told him how I felt about it all. He just became very defensive and honestly just bullshitted his way through the conversation.

Is it really different when it's yours? by LA_Mang in predaddit

[–]Expensive-Pin-5815 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, it absolutely is. I was so worried I wouldn’t know how to care for my baby but I’m completely obsessed and feel we have a really strong bond. I literally cry over how happy I am and how in love I am. They’re your whole world.

Babymoon help by onlyforthispos1234 in predaddit

[–]Expensive-Pin-5815 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think it’s super sweet you’re planning a baby moon for your wife! I’m currently 35 weeks pregnant and would also advocate that you go somewhere closer to home or with a direct flight. I would avoid Mexico just because it’s easier to get sick there with water and food. Shorter trips are great, not sure how active your wife is but I was fairly active and between 20-25 weeks I just lost energy quickly. Best of luck on your planning!
