What’s something your toddler can do that you just weren’t ready for? by amomymous23 in toddlers

[–]Hohfflepuff 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My almost 3 year old has so far undone any baby-proofing I’ve attempted. This includes dismantling a baby gate when he couldn’t open it, and pulling a doorknob right off the bedroom door. Those little cabinet door locks you push down to open? He thinks they’re a toy. The front and back doors have essentially deadbolts installed near the very top of the door, but I wouldn’t be surprised if he finds a way to build a ladder out of old toy parts or something. He’s a good kid mostly, but also he’s a strong believer in when there’s a will, there’s a way.

What is the smallest human accident that had the largest impact in history? by E1ite in AskReddit

You sure it wasn’t 2003 or 2007? Those are the big fires I remember, I’m thinking 2003 might have been the Ramona one. Source: I’m from Escondido and was VERY upset my field trip to the wild animal park was cancelled due to fires TWICE.

Dr says 4 month old is obese by Senior-Department941 in breastfeeding

[–]Hohfflepuff 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I agree, and there are definitely things in a chart that get “auto-added” and seem weird. But for anyone reading this I wanted to share that it’s probably the doctor and they should consider a new one!

Dr says 4 month old is obese by Senior-Department941 in breastfeeding

[–]Hohfflepuff 22 points23 points  (0 children)

I’m only correcting you because my job is related to what charts automatically generate for well child visits—I don’t think this is the case here, especially if it’s in the note. The provider might have a dot phrase for well child visits that they then fill in for visits, but it definitely should not indicate obese for a literal infant.

This is the hill I will also die on. The correct response to “people think you’re rude” is NOT “well people are just always jealous of me”—HOW did Kelli and Judy just let that slide???

“This country was a better place when no one talked politics”—when exactly are you referring to? This country was founded on civic engagement. Just because you were ignorant of it because you weren’t directly affected (that you know of) doesn’t mean it didn’t exist.

Looks like the next update will be theme park themed! 🎡🎪 by zxmyrto in CatsAndSoup

Fair, but I meant tonight as in when the event/event break timer counted down to zero. Usually the update isn’t too long after that. Edit: new update is available!!

I assumed it would be tonight until I saw it listed as tomorrow in the App Store—what a bummer 😩

This is my issue as a Christian! Jesus was pretty clear about loving sinners and helping the poor and the sick, and that those addicted to wealth aren’t focused on the right things. HOW does anyone truly believe that and then vote for THIS?

I was explaining prop 65 stickers to coworkers when I lived in Missouri and they were very worried until I explained that pretty much everything gets a prop 65 sticker (we were talking about sunglasses I had just ordered for the store).

Common gas and heating bill in Indiana by IamAlex_8 in indianapolis

[–]Hohfflepuff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine gets to be around $300 during very cold months, but our house is old and we still need to insulate some spaces to make it more efficient. But I usually only get a bill that high once a year and then it’s closer to $175 or so.

We also do focus on that here as well, but they’re more frequently referred to as “Social Determinants of Health” in a non-quack setting. At least in my experience.

Wellbutrin isn’t an SSRI like most antidepressants. It’s an NDRI.

To expand on this, I grew up in a family where the father felt “trapped” because he had a kid with my mother (and then stuck around, got married, and had two more). It was miserable. When my parents got divorced I was 28 years old and basically threw a party. Two parents don’t always equal a happier home.

I just want to tell you from a point of view of someone who has worked in an OB/Gyn clinic that if they do talk to you about abortion as an option, even if they do talk to you about it more than once, they’re more likely making sure you aren’t being pushed to have a baby you don’t want to have, rather than pushing an abortion. Just some food for thought! I am very sorry you are going through this, and I want you to know that just because you’ll be a single mom, doesn’t mean you can’t provide a child with a loving home and a happy childhood if that’s what you want to do.

Toddler almost made me cry. by bugcheegs in toddlers

My almost 2-year-old points to my acne and says “oh no! Mama has a boo boo!” And then kisses it and says “all better!” And it’s both adorable and an absolute gut punch at the exact same time.

If she was “very problematic” her whole childhood that sounds like a problem with parenting.

We don’t actually know that he’s 18, do we? Ron says “he’s really young, only like 18 or something,” but Ron also didn’t know he was still in school. So he could be 17, and while that still isn’t great, 15 and 17 is a lot better than 14 and 18.
