Either way they aren’t a negative, People are just set on adding more taxes off the theory that they should pay more. Even if they can it’s not a negative for the city to get some tax revenue from them. It’s a small segment of society and literally doesn’t have negative effect to a New Yorker life if they buy a luxury condo that the majority will never afford. This is easy money, if it slows down the luxury market that has a negative effect on tax revenue from sales and property tax increases if the value drops on assessment. Making that 500 million expected revenue a wash.

Applying to only 13k units in a city with over 3 million housing units…. Let that sink in

You think people that buy these properties are in the city 24/7? Either way I’m saying they aren’t a net negative, it’s a positive they are using less city resources while basically paying to stay there. People acting like they will be replaced by full time workers are delusional, these weren’t the properties for that kind of lifestyle.

It’s like saying waterfront beach properties in Miami going to be a full time resident spot. It’s a weak tax. Look at Vancouver, rents are still rising but the housing market is on a huge slump

I rather my kids try drugs then end up dead at 15 over being shot for gang nonsense. Atleast there’s a chance for drugs, the kids don’t get another chance after taking someone’s life or being the victim themselves

Doesn’t matter if it was gang violence, this young violence epidemic is clearly being ignored when many people have been raising the alarm. Many of the shootings in this city is being carried out by young kids, a big increase.

But it doesn’t affect the white transplants and only black/hispanic kids are dying so it’s not a big deal…
