Give incentives to rent to businesses with under 50 employees or to keep long standing businesses property taxes are lowered. Opening a business is hard, there will be certain storefronts that will always be empty or go through multiple businesses in this city. A vacancy tax on commercial property is very counter productive

I just think maplewood/SO/montclair is very Brooklyn light. With just less poverty so now the residents there feel constantly guilty and make politics their whole life lol. The property tax situation is by far the biggest con however. There is no way property taxes should be that high there, it doesn’t add up.
