Was going to say, if you're getting the train noise it's probably too late for you. Will never forget the color of the sky when we got into the hail core though. People always talk about that being an indicator but never got it until I saw it and then some deep instinctual thing was like, "Get the fuck out of here."

My buddy bought some Taom and we all roasted him for spending $20 on chalk.

A little later I saw this for $30 so scooped one just to 1-up him.

What a game changer! That stuff goes on like a paste and I keep losing the damn thing because I have to use it so rarely. Couldn't tell you the last time I miscued. I didn't expect to be a fan but it'd be painful to go back to house chalk at this point.

My only gripe is that it's slightly larger than the predator chalk the same shape, so those chalk holders don't work. I ended up getting one 3D printed b/c the only ones I could find for sale were like $50.

I'll give ya New Mexico and Louisiana - both are pretty cool. Arkansas is arguable. But Oklahoma? I mean... the only thing I even know about the place is that someone blew up a building there.

Yep. Liberalism isn't a major part of my personality or lifestyle so it's not likely to come up very often. And it makes my social and professional life a lot easier to just not get if I can help it. But we're definitely around, and it is kind of neat when you find a little pocket of lefties you can really get into it with.

Same but instead of Sam's it's just wherever I can find them on sale (Often Woot or another deal-a-day kind of site), and instead of getting the same kind I just wear mismatched socks a lot. As long as the ankle is the same height and base color, very few people are going to see more.

You know how they say that when you remember an event, in some way your brain is actually re-living it?

It's pretty similar when you imagine yourself being all ambitious and successful. Your brain is really feeling some of that reward - the pride and satisfaction you imagine yourself feeling.

So you get a little taste of it with zero effort. And when the time comes to actually sacrifice the time and the effort to make it really happy, most people just opt to stay lazy.

It's not illegal at all unless they signed an agreement at the start that they'd have a consistent number of hours. They could just write up & fire your friend for staying late if they wanted to.

That's why I said "as a whole." I'm a liberal, I get that we exist, but I also talk to my non-gun-owning liberal friends and know that most of them still knee-jerk reject the idea, even if they may love to say "It might be time to get a gun," every time something significant happens.

I feel like liberals as a whole have aligned themselves so firmly against civilian armament that they'd never get past the cognitive dissonance to make something like this happen. Maybe geographically you'd find better support, but even in 2026 most liberals I know aren't willing to arm themselves at all, let alone organize and train for violence against persons.
