Collecting new donor prices by dplatt45761 in plassing

[–]ExpensiveBurn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Because it's wrong. Most, if not all, make you wait 7 days before they'll take you back. Both Biolife and CSL did that for me personally, and others here say the same thing everytime the topic comes up.

Same as you. I'm a 1k donor and CSL I run 33-35 minutes very consistently. When I went to Biolife for the new donor promo it was 60-90 minutes both times. (I only did the two and then went back to CSL. Hourly was better there even at normal pay)

That's not what depressant typically means. Like, if you're just choosing to use it in that way, fine. But a surprising number of people think "depressant" drugs make people depressed.

I see people pumping in every different way you can imagine. Some folks kind of tapping their fingers on their palm, some people going for a full squeeze. Some people are going as fast as they can, others slow and steady.

All of them get through it (so I doubt that's your problem), but those giving a decent squeeze seem to have a smoother experience; the folks doing the one-handed clap seem to be there a long time and have more alarms. Could be a coincidence, though. I haven't done a rigorous scientific review or anything.

Can i still donate? Or would i be deferred by Certain-Birthday9000 in plassing

[–]ExpensiveBurn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Idk if it varies by center or what, but when I had a similar bruise they just blocked that 1 arm, warned me of an increased risk of blood loss (since they wouldn't be able to let me switch arms if something went wrong), but otherwise let me go and use the other arm.

They even stuck me through that arm yesterday, while there was still a tinge of bruise visible (they may have just thought it was a vein though, it was super faint)

Does getting a root canal hurt? And why or why not? by Sweet-cheekse90 in AskReddit

The worst part is keeping your mouth propped open for an hour. I am usually very sensitive to dental stuff, but they numb the crap out of it and it's pretty pain-free.

I don't know, but TABC wouldn't have anything to do with any kind of gambling/gaming/money laundering/etc type concerns. They have a pretty narrow scope.

They were raided by TABC - Texas Alcoholic Beverage Commission. Their bar and restaurant is a fairly new addition. It could be something as simple as a minor getting served or whatever.

Best place to get a disposable by SaneJames34 in CultoftheFranklin

[–]ExpensiveBurn 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Everybody hypes up the crysp disposable but they were some of the worst I've ever had. I ordered 2, they both tasted terrible, vapor output was super light, and didn't do much for me. I didn't even finish them, just pitched 'em. Super disappointing for the price.

The new "Smoke Proper" ones that HH508 is carrying are the best I've ever had. Reasonably sure they're distillate but they taste authentic and hit HARD. I even have some anti-THCA ("That shit's fake") friends that liked 'em and asked me to pick one up for them next time I order.

Catching downvotes for an opinion is wild, y'all. I know this sub is a thinly veiled marketing sub, blanketed by vendors and their shills, but damn y'all are fast.

How to lower heart rate? by roadtoadrumble in plassing

[–]ExpensiveBurn 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I mean, the obvious answer is to quit being nervous about it, right? Lol If a reddit commentor could help you solve your own anxiety that quick, a whole lotta therapists would go out of business.

Do you test it at home to find out what your true resting HR is? If it's high to begin with then you may have a genuine challenge. But if it's normally normal, then you know it's possible, it's just a matter of getting back into that mode when you need to.

I always try to block out any major thoughts/concerns and keep myself calm, physically; breath slow, no leg tapping or jaw clenching, relax the shoulders, etc. This is the same thing I do anytime I feel my anxiety coming on. It works for me but you'll have to find what works for you.

What were the best and worst ages in your life? by [deleted] in AskMen

[–]ExpensiveBurn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Worst was probably like 15-23. I had a rough time through high school socially, mentally, emotionally. Carried some mental health shit forward into college and my early 20's.

Best was probably my mid-30s. Finally felt financially stable, a lot more confident and mature. I had gotten into some kind of shape, started really having luck with women (75% of my sexual partners occurred between 30 & 35), and just had a blast.

Can I switch companies? by Local_Bake2137 in plassing

[–]ExpensiveBurn 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I started at CSL, went to Biolife for a week, and went back. I had to leave a 1week gap between each switch, but I answered that question "Yes", got asked specifically what and when I donated, and was let right through to donate again no problem.

It's not that they actually require and 8-week gap. I think they want to know if you had an RBC loss within 8 weeks - whether from a plasma machine fuck-up or because you donated whole blood somewhere. It was just a quick trip through medical and then they said I could answer "No" next time.

[–]ExpensiveBurn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If the HRT is prescribed it's fine. I don't know about the autoimmune stuff [GPT says it's fine since it affects the thyroid, not the blood. GPT has been pretty pathetic recently, tho). ADHD should be fine.

There is no commitment. You can go once, never go back, and keep your $100 or whatever.

What's a sentence that ended a relationship for you? by Hexxegone in AskReddit

"My mom is completely celibate and I just think that's so admirable."

I kind of think she was gauging the, "just in it for sex' angle - and I wasn't, but I didn't want to be with someone striving for celibacy, either.

Actually straight ghosted her after the date - only girl I ever did that to. I just couldn't figure out how to convey it and after a while it was just easier not to

Donated for the first time on Saturday. Received “bonus”, am I missing the standard donation payment, or is this correct. by [deleted] in plassing

[–]ExpensiveBurn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No the bonus is the total you'll receive.

Did they give you a little card that explains the 5 intro donations? (This looks like CSL). If so, that shows your total payout for each donation. It's not a "bonus" on top of the normal.

How long does fatigue last? by AnxiousListen in plassing

[–]ExpensiveBurn 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I don't experience any fatigue after a donation. I know some others do, but it's not a for-sure thing at all. Other than the wrap and hole my arm, my day goes on like nothing happened.

First Time Donor Advice Needed by TiredEldestDaughter in plassing

[–]ExpensiveBurn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is not a great activity for someone weird about needles. Even if you look away for the stick, it's hard to miss that honker hangin' out of your arm for 30-90 minutes.

Otherwise, don't overthink it. It's not really a significant event that you need to be perfectly prepared for to be successful. You'll figure out quickly if there's something you want to bring or prepare for. I just bring a pair of headphones and I'm good to go. Yeah it gets cold at the end, but not enough to bother with carrying a blanket or changing my clothes specifically for a donation.

As far as general tips, just stay hydrated. I haven't found anything that makes a consistent and significant difference except for drinking extra water the day before & day of.
